I have a leaking isolation valve (which goes to nowhere) attached to a water tank. I think I should replace with a stop end?

Yes, that's best, but you shouldn't leave much of a dead leg.

What is it connected to? Is it a drain or test point for an unvented?

If so, all you would need to do really is replace it and then cap that (which is what it should be anyway)

Thanks for your replies, helped me to save a plumbers call out charge. Replaced with a valve and stop. So far, so good.
