Frayed mower cable

Is what is on the mower, already 3-core?
Not checked yet, but thought I'd ask about which type of wire before I get round to splicing it open and checking. Would save bringing up an old thread, by the time I get round to fixing it!

Of course there is another option,
If the end of the existing cable is still sound where it enters the mower; cut it leaving a foot/30cm and
add a 13A plug,

make or buy a suitable length 3 core 13A extension lead which can then be used for other purposes

However a 1.25 0r 1.5mm² 3 core flex is something like twice the weight of 0.75mm² 2 core flex to drag around and 1/3rd fatter, if you have it on a reel at least twice the capacity is required...

Ohh... if you do wish to have it on a reel have the socket at the free end, that way you don't have to lug the reel around

and if you lived in Norwich you could have the cable and another mower for £30.............................

Goodness, i just used old school plain connecters and electrical tape on a hedge trimmer years ago, worked a treat.

As it has not been said I'll say it.

If you use one of the orange connector pairs, the side with the pins sticking out MUST go on the mower side, the socket side goes on the supply side.
Anything else and you someone can get shocked.
