What have you bought today?

You’ll end up in a neck brace.
I protested strongly at the time, not least because getting the wiring onto the breast was an utter pain in the backside.

But I was outvoted by the whole family.

Then I got let down by the handyman who was going to help me mount the TV, meaning I had to do it all the night before the fireplace fitters came.

Then, when I got to Screwfix to pick up the Fischer fixings, Parcel Farce had forked up and they hadn't arrived. I had spoken to Tim from Technical at Fischer and I gave him all the loads and he worked out what fixings I needed and how many. Brilliant service.

As many here will know, I like to over engineer things so there is no possibility of failure. That service gave me real peace of mind.

Instead, I had to use Rawlplug fixings, but decided to whack a few more in to make sure.

I got a piece of 25mm ply bridging the flue. I didn't want to go anywhere near the flue with a drill or chase out the accessory boxes, so the ply kills two birds with one stone. I fixed the ply left and right staying away from the flue and I cut holes in the wood to mount the boxes for a double socket and a brush outlet for the co-ax and ethernet cables.

The TV bracket is fixed with coach bolts inserted from the rear (Oooh, Matron!), again to avoid drilling near the flue.

Oh s*** I wish I never wrote all that on diynot now

The chairs that you can bring to the festival have strict size guides and if they are over, you won’t be allowed to bring them in. Our current fold-up chairs are outside those dimensions and as we will be sitting for a while, I didn’t want to get a couple of those really cheap jobs so I bought a couple of comfy, padded, fold-up chairs up to almost the maximum size allowed. Were £63 each, £30 off in a sale, 15% coupon discount and free delivery so I ordered two delivered for £51.

Well, they were a waste of money - virtually every Fokker that went took chairs outside the 'permitted' dimensions - the same size as the fold-up chairs we already had! Never mind, the new chairs were very comfortable - I couldn’t have stood up or sat on our existing chairs for ten hours. Also, we were told bags no bigger than 30x21x8 - about the size of a sheet of A4 paper. I wore a fleece, and a coat with my drink, a fold up brolly and monocular in the pockets plus a fold up backpack that you get free with a pair of sketchers shoes as well as my manbag and transferred everything into that when I was inside. People were turning up with backpacks of all sizes though and they got in. Oh well, I’ll know next time.
