Another 'error' over housing by a Labour cabinet member.

Kier Starmer has full confidence in his chancellor - until he sacks her or she resigns

In sorry, bit like Rayner she is demonstrating she isn’t across the detail, so heaven help the UK plc finances

Let's s wait for the detail from the inquiry.

Then fine her and sack her. Or fine the agency instead

What's the letting agent's perspective on this?

Ultimately, if the letting agent accepts it was within the scope of their duty to advise and they failed to, this is (ought to be) a non issue.

If the letting agent maintains that they didn't have a duty to advise and/or did in fact advise, it's a problem.

I'm happy to wait for the outcome

Not defending her. If she is the guilty party throw the book at her. If it's the letting agency then they deserve the appropriate punishment

But not until we know

Amazing how those clamouring now , never attacked the Tory misdemeanours.

Tells a story

Oh dear. Outcome maybe but the ignorant excuse / defence will be interesting.

You'd think in this day and age, the civil service / the party itself would have a checklist for MPs for a number of reasonably-foreseeable scenarios.

Being promoted to the cabinet being one.

While Reeves is on the hook for this one, variants on such faux pas have happened with ridiculous regularity across all parties.

This is a good opportunity for starmer - she agrees to go - starmer says he sacked her, so he looks like he has control, she is replaced and the new person can raise any tax they want and use the excuse that was reeves promise and not theirs. Reeves later receives her peerage reward for going

If it's the letting agency then they deserve the appropriate punishment
A letting agency has a significant responsibility to inform landlords and tenants about any local licenses required for a rental property. While the ultimate legal burden for securing the license lies with the landlord, letting agents are often considered the "person managing" the property, which makes them jointly liable under the Housing Act 2004.

By failing to inform clients, an agency is also at risk of breaching consumer protection laws.

Kick her out! Good riddance! We can't have all these elected left-wing women in government!

Funny how the Tories consistently did far worse for 14 years, but because the old Eton boys stuck together, they just swept everything under the carpet.

These figures make me laugh.
