Hello DIY people

I have bought 2 ceiling lights for my living room/ dinning. The room has two lights and the first one was fitted fine because the room is on two levels. But it turned out that the chandelier would be too long for the ceiling hight on the living room side. I need to cut and thread the rod on one end for it to fit. Is this even possible? Is there somewhere I can go to do this? Or any tools I can buy that will help me thread the rod internally in one end?
any advice is welcome

I need to cut and thread the rod on one end for it to fit.

Is it a rod, or is it a threaded tube? Rod should be fairly easy to extend the thread, you just need a matching die to extend the thread, and then cut off the surplus, plus some means to grip the rod, whilst you thread it.

If it's thin tube, that can be almost impossible to grip, enough to add thread. A better/easier way, might be to simply drill a hole through the tube, to accept a pin, or split pin, to suspend it.

it is thin tube diameter 16 mm with internal threads on both ends. You might be right there

I think you could buy a tap and do it yourself.
I've used taps with no problems as the metal will be soft.
Jmo.
Engineering company would probably want too much for a small job like that

have you got some pictures of the tube, and what are the internal & External diameters, and what is the tube made from
and also a picture of the thread or bolt that screws into it

Threading thin tubing, both internally and externally is notoriously difficult due to the tendency for the tubing to collapse.
Maybe you could consider cutting a section out, sleeving it with some other tube and relying on araldite?

Is that bolt removable? If so, you could file the lower end to reduce its diameter just enough to fit inside your reduced-length tube, then drill through tube and bolt diametrically and fasten the two with a pin through the drilled hole.
