Car battery jump starter recommendations

I was rather disappointed with the lithium jump start pack. It said how it could be damaged if cranked for too long etc. And I don't crank an engine with a stop watch in my hand.

Very disappointing if they give no indication of time. It allows them to write off any failures as ''over-cranking''.

Most of the instructions for their use, seem to say to limit cranking to 30, or 60 seconds. Even 30 seconds cranking an engine over, with no start, is a very long time to be cranking it. The only time I have ever done that, for that long - was very many decades ago, when I have broken down in the middle of the road, and cranked it to get a car out of the way.

If a vehicle doesn't start within 5 or so seconds of cranking then you can't expect a little battery pack to be the answer.

They are a 1st aid item. Not a hospital cure.
