Complete novice at anything house related and no-one knowledgeable to ask. We live in a mid terraced house thats just over 100 years old and have recently spotted cracks in the spare room and on the landing wall which go in opposite directions. The cream pictures are the landing, the purple is the bedroom. We're looking at putting the house on the market soon. Are these something to worry about? Thanks in advance

Nearly 15 years, haven't noticed the cracks in the bedroom as we dont go in there very often. The walls are adjoining to next door.

Not that I know of specifically but he's always doing some DIY. There's been drilling upstairs a few times over the last few months

They look like thermal (shrinkage) cracks which are common when heating patterns or seasons change.

If you are selling then you should avoid letting anyone see cracks, or you will be in a world of ill-informed conjecture and delays/withdrawals.

Get the area replastered - sections removed and then blended in nicely, not just a bit of filler nor a bit of skim on the top, and then paper the walls with a thick paper - don't repaint the walls but do paint the all the timber work and ceiling too. A full room re-decoration not just one wall.

Then if asked you have "spruced up an old tired unused room for the sale", not "repaired some cracks".
