Have used this recently and had no problems. But had my first leak on a radiator tail everywhere with it. Well it's shown up leaking after 4 months. Used PTFE for years never and issue. Used the cord for a good few years and never had a issue. Hopefully just a one off maybe I didn't put enough on etc

PTFE wrapped around 12 to 15 times.
Nice and tidy works for me

Leaking after 4 months use, erm, I`m thinking somebody been messing.

When you wrap it around - too many times is there ever a chance of splitting the tail entry section on the rad when you still need to wind it in a bit tighter to meet up with the valve position. ?

No chance.
Soft plastic Vs steel.. Only ever one winner

How is that string made - to me it looks like normal PTFE tape that has been twisted into a string
according to their blurb - Made from a high-strength multifilament polyamide thread impregnated with a non-curing sealing paste - it isn't PTFE

Not quite that's why there is a cutter on the container.
You could garrote someone with it!
How many times do you need to wrap it around their neck - asking for a friend
