This forum has been incredibly helpful — I successfully replaced a broken Danfoss FP715 heating and hot water programmer with a Hive system.
I’ve now decided to tackle the second heating zone because I really like the Hive app and functionality.
I'm having an issue with wiring the Hive Single Channel receiver to replace a Danfoss TP 5000 for the Lounge. It is very similar to this thread: https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/hive-wiring-help.607052/
The Danfoss TP 5000 runs on a battery and has 2 connected wires to COM and N/O (as per the photo - IMG 7235). The wiring in the back box contains an earth and grey wire too.
I have taken the COM to L on Hive and linked to COM at Hive (terminal 1), the black wire to terminal 3 and connected the grey to N at Hive (as per the photo - IMG 7236).
At present, the Hive doesn’t fire up as it appears there is no power going to it, but I know the Hive unit works having tested it on the main zone, and if I move the black wire to terminal 1, the radiator comes on when the power is restored so I know the circuit works.
I suspect the issue may relate to two disconnected grey wires in the wiring centre near the hot water tank (as per the photo - IMG 7237).
What’s the best way to identify which grey wire is the correct neutral and where it should connect?
An electrician visited today but cannot return until June. His suggestion involved pulling out multiple wires and relocating the receiver, which seemed excessive for what I hope is a simpler issue.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated. Happy to provide additional photos or answer questions if helpful.
Thank you.
