This is still the most stupid ''critique" from the deniers.
If you take massive steps to prevent a contagious virus spread primarily by sneezing being transmitted, a less contagious disease that also spreads primarily by sneezing will also be reduced.
It was a mass skive festival. Those who really wanted to milk the system decided they had "long covid", which may or may not even exist.
It let people experience life without work. Which many enjoyed, and wanted to find a way of carrying on with. We're still paying the bills now, with the massive benefits bill for people who just don't want to work any more.

You're still arguing against that imaginary strawman who's saying it was harmless. But nobody's actually saying that.

Yes. The most harmful effects of covid have been the debts incurred, and the blow to the country's work ethic. Those are your 'long covid'.

Blup is pointing out that it really really was more risk, deadlier for those in poor health.
For those people it wasn't a:
Lots of cancelled medical treatments and operations too. Plus the massive mental effects on many people, there are still some who are afraid to go out.

And those Nightingale hospitals which were put up quickly and never used. A bonanza for all sorts of builders and tradesmen, medical suppliers and makers of various goods. No wonder so many people were zealous covid supporters.
Whilst I hated all the skivers and those with their snouts in the covid trough, I felt sorry for the many who were genuinely frightened. All the government's fault, though

The numbers were comparatively tiny, but there were a couple of hundred "no co-morbidity" Covid deaths in the 0-49 year olds, in the first wave.
The numbers from those dying from the vaccine alone, were in the dozens. I knew of one person who died of Covid, and a couple who were thoroughly ill from the vaccine. One thinks he's in the "Still got long covid" group, but he's ~70 now so , who knows?
It's all fodder for conspiracy theorists who love to go on, and on, and on, and on...., but there were lies and incompetence on a pretty large scale.
I wouldn't expect very much to be different next time. Maybe less, - Covid wasn't mishandled as badly as the "Spanish" flu of 1918-19.

Criticise the “entrepreneurs “ who ripped off the public as suppliers of fake ppe or claimants of furlough. Make the argument for targetted prosecutions and fraud charges. It follows logically if your argument is correct
Hindsight !!!! There were plenty at the time pointing stuff out but they were labelled granny killers, covidiots YouTube and Facebook accounts accounts were shut down on government orders. Nudge units assembled and military surveillance units put in action to monitor the general public, your nearest "conspiracy theorist" could have told you it all at the time.
