Im trying to justify buying a new van. More so what van.

Try renting long term. I did actually look at an electric van for my fishing, the range should be adequate. Over 2 years the total cost of the rent was a smidge under £8k, if you bought one new, you would lose more than that in depreciation. You need to be a business to rent, as opposed to lease, rent covers maintenance and road tax. You could rent different types of van for a week or so at a time, just to see how you get on with them
 
Diesels will probably get taxed horribly to force people to scrap them, but they're more economical than petrol.
Why buy new - a 2 year old one would save a fair bit.
Electric would be a pain if you can't charge the thing.
Sounds best to get a used petrol one, to me. Japanese, probably.

You COULD buy something electric, as long as you can get HWM to tell you how to charge it from a lamp post..

think they weigh something like 3 ton laden (~2.5 ton empty so only 500kg of payload). AFAIK it's not the range, it's the tyre wear.
 
There’s been charging lampposts in my mates street in East London for a good few years now. Trouble is, the parking places next to them are not reserved for EV’s.

We are getting them fitted also around the housing estates. There are a few.

I asked the head this morning about changing at the school.

Shes going to mention it at a meeting next week.

The are no solely petrol out thete. Certainly not Japanese.
VW & Ford both do A petrol Hybrid. Essentially the same van just diffrent badges

A lot of work places supply and allow the charging of personal cars. Some make a charge and others give it for free.
