Can anybody tell me if this machine has a filter?
And if it does... Where is it?
The machine will not pump out the water... I can feel the vibration of the outlet pipe that it is trying but the tiniest amount just dribbles out.
I have fed a long piece of tube into the pipe just in case the blockage was here... but still the water will not pump out!
I have never owned a machine before where I have not been able to find a filter... Underneath the kickstrip on the right there is a red stopper but behind this is nothing!
The instructions say some models have self cleaning... What does this mean? Surely there must be a way of clearing any blockage or obstruction without the need for an engineer?
If this machine is "self-cleaning" I can't see how it could remove collections of fur from washing animal bedding or underwires from bra's or even coins can get lodged which leads me to believe there must be SOMEWHERE on the machine to get to any blockage.
If anybody has a clue please let me know a.s.a.p. THANK YOU :)

it deoesnt have a removable filter, which is why you cant fiind it

it does however hav a "sort of filter" not looked at the latest ones, but it sits between outer tub and pump

carefully put m/c on its back (empty as possible and dissconect all hose etc) you should then be able to see it, may need some "gas pliers" to get it off

Breezer...
I am going to give all advice a try.
Thanks so much for the speedy reply.
In your experience as these machines dont have a filter, where does all the coins, socks, bra wires go... also the tumble drying fluff?
I managed to pump the water out on the "pump out" mode but it just dribbled out of the outlet pipe & took about an hour.
I tryed to start the machine again & it does not stop taking the water in, it got so high on the door I panicked & switched it off & went through the long pumping out process again.
I wonder if with this extra information you might be able to diagnose the machine further or if there is anything else that I could check over when I undertake my mission? :)
Any reply's gratefully received. Thank you x

bear in mind i left HP 10 years ago, but you may want to clicky

overfill is caused by blocked pressure chamber, puntured pipe from pressure chamber to prsssure switch, dodgy pressure switch, pipe come off from any of the previous.

bear in mind a wm is very heavy, if you are not sure get help to lay it on its back

breezer is right there is a filter in the sump hose which can be accessed

from the rear bottom panel, you will see a sump hose attached to the outer drum, undo large j clip, you will see a plastic ball & internal filter ,also attached to this is the pressure chamber checked to see this is not blocked, this is not for the faint hearted so get help, good luck

I am having problems with my WD640.

It constantly leaves soap powder on clothes, and seems to be getting worse.

Could this be a filter problem?

If it is, is the filter easy to clean or do you have to renew it?

not a filter prob if its draining under 30 secs ,more like soap scum in the drum ,do 3 boil washes with white vinegar , then report back .

pull back door seal from inner drum .also scum will be on the inside of the drum .water softner just makes it drinkable , try a empty wash see how much froth is in the drum .

Did the 3 x boiling washes with white vinegar and it has made no difference.

The machine seems to pump out fine, just that all dark clothes will show streaks of what looks like powder on them.

Always have to wash them again with no powder to remove it.

Have tried reducing amount of powder to hardly anything.

We reduced the amount of powder we use anyway, due to having a water softener.

I did once accuse my wife of overloading the machine, but it will happen with only a few things in there.

Hi sounds to me like the watermiser technology has taken over. Is the machine taking enough in. does it weigh the load and fill accordingly or some such fuzzy logic.. if there is not enough to rinse through you are bound to get soap left behind.

Just saved myself £75 call out fee!!

Thanks for the advice, but I have to disgree with Darky. Even with my complete lack of DIY skills, this was an absolutely straight forward job. (I've temptad fate now. Better go before the hoses blow off and the kitchen floods!!!) :D

(So it's a 3 year old thread. Who cares??!!??)
