People that cant afford drugs, go & rob to fund it, so lets increase booze & have more robbin, (no batman cracks)

Increasing the price isn't going to solve the problem IMO. It will only penalise the sensible drinkers amoung us, increase Tesco profits and the Governments tax coffers.

If you increase the price, more people will go abroad for cheap booze. There will be an increase in illegal alcohol, crime to fund the drink and possibly and increase in 'soft' drug use if alcohol is on par or more expensive.

The problem is those people that sell to under age drinkers and the morons that think its clever to buy them the drink. The government is proposing a proof of age scheme for cigarettes, why the hell don't they do the same for alcohol for EVERYONE. If you cant produced your 'I'm over 18 and allowed to buy booze' ID card, you dont get sold any.

Ban alcho pops and half the alcohol in beer. That would help. Also hit parents with huge fines if they can't control their kids. Ban kids from congregating in gangs and fine the parents if they are caught.

Ban alcho pops

It amazes me how anyone in their right mind is still allowing these to be sold.

Not only that but WKD must be the most advertised DRINK on telly.

this will be the same tescos that has had three stores off licences removed by the courts for reguarly selling booze to under aged drinkers, in my area

Don't have a problem here

Hit parents with huge fines if they can't control their kids.
Nor here

Ban kids from congregating in gangs and fine the parents if they are caught.
Not sure about this one though Joe. I spent most of my adolescence with large groups of my mates without causing any trouble, not sure we were a gang though in today's sense.

We should avoid knee jerk reactions to the bad behaviour of small minorities of youths and not punish the majority of decent kids who aren't interested in causing mayhem.

Most teenagers are decent people IMO.

How about this for a suggestion to eliminate underage purchases?

EVERYONE pays a vastly inflated price for alcohol.

Those who are of age are able to claim the extra tax back at a later date.

How about this for a better idea to combat underrage drinking:

We become a dry nation. No alcohol comes in, no alcohol goes out. Anyone found to be intoxicated after 6 months after the ban will be sent to prison and made to tell where he got the booze from.

Great :D

ban all the cheap ass cider and the like, most underagers dont have the money to buy the good stuff so they go for the cheap ass rocket fuel.

why should we the sensible drinker be penalised just because some wee spotty teenagers like to get ****ed up and cause trouble every week.

put those medicine tops on the bottles they are supposed to stop young hands from opening the bottle :)

Raise the age of drinking to 21, anyone caught srving alchohol to under age drinkers gets a big fine, second offence jail for 3 months. If you are caught up in any alchohol related crimed (fighting, vandalism etc), big fine, no dosh? 3 months in a detention centre.

joe, dont get it, cut alcohol in beer, most beers are only 3.8% to 4.1%, larger up to 5% most people who fall in the gutter have being drinking stronger stuff than beer

Years ago people went out top pub at 6/7 pm and sat and drank slowly and sociably yeah they ended up drunk but it was gradual. Now they can`t afford to and sit and drink wine and cheap spirits in the house throwing as much down there neck as they can in ashort time before going to pub /club at 10/11pm fresh air hits them an d they are wasted .
Cut the price of drink to encourage people back in to pubs and there will be less trouble
