    Fix for Leaking Gutter

Well, water is definitely leaking out of the wrong end, quite a steady drip of quite a lot of water when/after it has been raining. Some water is flowing down the down pipe from the gutter in the picture as intended, but in that far right corner of the gutter it is not.

    Fix for Leaking Gutter

Sorry it isn't obvious in the picture. It was mentioned in the survey when we brought the house ; there are wonky door frames, off level ceilings and floors etc it is an old house so it's long term.

    Fix for Leaking Gutter

A section of drainpipe at the back of my house is leaking / overflowing when it rains. Basically the water is flowing in the wrong direction but it is difficult to fix because the house itself has subsided over time so is off level. I think what I need is to fit an extra section of pipe that...

Combi Boiler Making Chugging Sound After Using Hot Tap

It hasn't had a proper service for a while. The plumber fixed a different problem with the pressure a few months ago, he did have a good look at it including refilling it with some special chemical also fixing some corroded pipe, maybe that was as good as a service? Unfortunately I didn't...

Combi Boiler Making Chugging Sound After Using Hot Tap

Our boiler has been doing this for a few years now, after using the hot tap in the bathroom it will often start making a strained chugging noise a short while later. The same thing doesn't seem to happen after using the hot tap in the kitchen. Turning the boiler off and on again resolves the...

    Crack Between Ceiling and Wall

The white box above the boiler is the wireless receiver for the thermostat. Before we moved in there was no proper ventilation for the cooker to the outside, the extractor fan just blew the air back into the kitchen, so it wouldn't surprise me if the cracking was caused by this. Since then I...

    Crack Between Ceiling and Wall

Hi, Thanks for all your suggestions ! The coving sounds like a great idea, not sure how I didn't think of this myself ! Some questions though ; 1.) Surely if the area is moving, the coving will also move with it / eventually crack/break ? 2.) Going off on a bit of a tangent here but on the...

I will just by a new tap I think. But in the meantime, would some silicone sealant around the tap / sink stop the leak temporarily ?

    Pipe For Kitchen Tap Leaking

Doh ! You are right omega015, I think it is actually a connection in the tap above that is leaking, then the water is trickling through the sink top into the cupboard below ; What would be the best way for me to fix this ?

    Ant Infestation Under Bath

Hi, I have some more questions ; 1.) If I only fit aqua board in the area under the showerhead where the old plasterboard was, is that ok ? Do any other wall areas under the bath need sealing ? 2.) Can I cut aqua board with a small hacksaw? When screwing the aqua board into the joists, what...

    Ant Infestation Under Bath

Hi, We noticed ants coming out of gaps between the bath and the tiles in the bathroom. On closer inspection, it seemed fairly damp underneath the bath and I could see big chunks of plasterboard flaking away. I think water has been leaking through a tile that was loose near the showerhead and...
