    Insulating loft hatch door

Hi Redherring. Yes I realised after I posted it that it had been asked before. You will have to forgive me as I am new to this. Problem is there is nothing of the right size on sale so I suppose I will have to cut it and put two pieces on. If I use thermawrap, any idea on the right sort of...

Damp on outer upstairs walls by a chimney

Surely if there was a leak then the water would just run down the polythene? Actually I tried putting polythene accross the insulation underneath the re-roofed part and found nothing. Also if you look at the picture with the insulation rolled back, the ceiling looks dry. I have tried the...

Damp on outer upstairs walls by a chimney

The wood that is showing inside the loft is only on the re-tiled chimney area and I think its new wood that the roofers put in. I was wondering if that amount of wood was excessive in comparison to the rest of the roof? Also the felt looks a bit hap-hazard. I couldn't understand why they put...

Lots of flies in the house???

To RichardC Thanks again for the advice and the website address. They definitely are cluster flies and I have put some fly papers up in the loft and sealed the gaps around the hatch with draught excluder and it seems to have worked. The best thing is that I can stop looking for dead animals...

    Ceiling extractor fan in bathroom

Thanks for that reply JohnD. I can get to the ducting. The actual fan is in the loft set about 2 feet from the ceiling entry point above the shower. Would a good course of action be to get a more powerful fan and use the existing ducting?

    triton electric shower not working

I know nothing about plumbing or electrics but I had two Triton showers, after replacing the first one that stopped working with another one. That one stopped working too just outside of the guarantee so I avoided Triton after that. However if someone can fix it for £15 then I would give it a go...

    Measuring up a curved radiator

I have been told that it is possible to replace a curved radiator in a round bay by measuring it and then finding somewhere that will bend one to fit. If this is right, then can anyone advise please on the best method of measuring it and would there be any problems with a rad that has been bent?
