toilet centre flush button problem

Hi, i have a problem with the center flush button i have, basically i took the lid off the basin and something went down the system.. I need to know what connects the flush button to the lever from the central up-pipe, which then allows me to flush the toilet. (please see attached photo).
Please let me know if you need any further information.

I think its a long piece of threaded plastic that screws in. I am no expert but the flush button broke on my toilet and I asked the manufacturer to send me the complete new fixing. They did and it is fine now. hope this helps.
