    Concrete Lintel

Tony, thanks for your advice. If I'm honest I sort of suspected that might be the case but hoped it wouldn't be. Cheers

    Concrete Lintel

Ok now I understand thanks. Are you aware of what options would be available to me? Are we talking removal of the concrete lintel or someway of reinforcing it, maybe by a nib at each side. Any ideas mate?

    Concrete Lintel

Thanks for your reply Tony. Sorry I'm a bit confused now. When you refer to the reinforcing steel what do you mean? The lintel seems to be concrete only, I haven't, and was hoping not to have to. replace it with an rsj. As I said there is no real weight above the lintel my concern was that the...

    Concrete Lintel

Apologies, originally posted this in Plumbing by mistake. Hi, i am looking for a bit of advice or guidance from any builders (or possibly even Structural engineers !) regarding a concrete lintel fitted above the original front door of my 1960's Wimpey build property. The original house had a...

    Tiling onto Impey tilesafe tanking

Hi Jason, It was whether the new adhesive would bond to the membrane that was my worry. I guess you're right, the only people able to give a conclusive answer would be RIW. I'll let you know what they say. Thanks for the advice on the floor tiles. I'm using 1" mosaic on the floor of...

    Tiling onto Impey tilesafe tanking

Yeah right again. The adhesive came off no problem when I used the jet washer on them. Only problem now is you might read a forum query from my next door neighbour asking how to get watered down tile adhesive off car paintwork!

    Tiling onto Impey tilesafe tanking

Jason, Like Richard and Mypetearthling youve nailed it. I changed to tub adhesive for that section and that was the result. I've scraped and rubbed most of the tub adhesive off the the tilesafe membrane, is the tanking now compromised or can I go again with proper powdered adhesive...

    Tiling onto Impey tilesafe tanking

Richard, Thanks. You are spot on. I did use tub adhesive for that section of the wall I was convinced by my local builders merchant that it would do the job. I will try again using the powdered addy. Cheers

    Tiling onto Impey tilesafe tanking

Thanks for that. I started the job with powdered adhesive and switched to the tub stuff on the advice of my local builders merchants!!! Back to powder then. Cheers.

    Tiling onto Impey tilesafe tanking

Can somebody help please. I am in the process of constructing a wetroom area and have tanked the shower area with RIW Impey Tilesafe membrane. So far so good. I fixed a batten and tiled above with 600 x 300mm porcelain tiles. Even if I say so myself, the finish looked great with all tiles...

    Dishwasher not working

Thanks for that. Hopefully it is a blockage rather than a problem with the pump. I am not familiar with the 'matrix'. Is this part of the pump or a different part of the machine? Cheers Alan

    Dishwasher not working

Thanks Foxhole (!) I have removed the pipe that feeds the arms with water and that appears free. I have dismantled the area from where the water emanates and drains as much as I can but there is no apparent blockage there. Would you be able to suggest another area where...

    Dishwasher not working

I have a CDA integrated dishwasher. We started having problems recently when the dishes were still unwashed after the full wash cycle. I have checked the spray arms and the filter at the bottom but cannot find any blockage. I rigged the machine to wash when the door was open and I saw that...

How Do I Secure My Toilet Pan

Freddy, Thanks mate. Personally I cannot think of any other method other than the one you suggest but it does beg the question of why the manufacturers design the toilet with srewholes if they can't be accessed. I will take your advice re the silicone v mortar if nobody is able to suggest...

How Do I Secure My Toilet Pan

I expect, and hope, that there is a simple explanation for this problem but I am totally stumped, as is a plumber I have employed. I have bought a contemporary looking close coupled toilet which is designed to sit tight up against a wall. It is to sit on a tiled timber floor. The problem I/ we...

Help needed regarding Focal Point Flueless Gasfire

Hi, I am not an expert (far from it) on gas fires, flueless or otherwise, but like you I have recently purchased a flueless version. I had different problems to you but if you read the comments posted on my subject title 'Wall Hung Flueless Gas Fire. think Very Carefully!' you will cut your...

Wall Hung Flueless gas Fires. Think Very Carefully

Thanks Tony, The fire is still in situ and the damage to the wall still very apparent. I have invited the company to view but all I got was a very brief reply stating they require sight of the documentation quoted before they will take any action. I suspected that this may be...

Wall Hung Flueless gas Fires. Think Very Carefully

Kevin, Thanks for your original reply but could I update you and trouble you further. I have sent an email to the gas fire supplier expaining the problem ( a fairly large chain operating in North West England) seeking a refund on the fire. They have responded but asked for a copy of...
