    ELV Distribution Over T&E?

Hi, Is there anything in the regs that prohibits the use of T&E to distribute 12VDC? I plan on using a central power supply for a set of LED lighting and would rather use T&E than buy a different cable type. The distances are short so voltage drop shouldn't be a problem. Cheers,

Crack In Wall In The Middle Of My Property

I assumed heave as it's clay soil but also the crack is wider at the top...so I was thinking the 'middle' was getting pushed up. If it is thermal/moisture cracking then would it be wider at the top?

Crack In Wall In The Middle Of My Property

Hi, I have a 1930s ex council semi. The exterior wall on the opposite side of the party wall (the wall facing the neighbours to whom I'm not attached to) has developed a vertical crack in it running the full height of my property. The crack is right down the middle of the house - half way...

measuring heat loss and/or air changes

You could hire a thermal imaging IR thermometer....it'll give you a guide as to how much heat is being lost but much more useful is also where.

    CU query

It's not like that though...they explain before hand what they want to see so the EIC isn't really an issue, and with unlimited (at least for my LABC) site visits it's far easier to get them out when you've fixed a single cable to then talk over what you're doing. I did the same for my flar...

    Lining Up Walls And Floors

Hi, I'm about to start tiling my bathroom using 60x30cm porcelain tiles. I'd like to lay the tiles landscape on the walls but I have a slight problem.... I want the grout lines to match up so the tiles on the wall line up perfectly with the tiles on the floor but if a 60x30 tile and a...

'normal load' of end terraced req for lintel

A job of this size must be passed through BC and they'll want to see a Structural Engineer's calculations - you're going to have to hire one so you may as well do it now and get their advice.

    Plasterboarding An Outside Corner

Hi, I've battened out my room ready to put up the plasterboard but just want to check what I should do about the outside corners around my fireplace. Does the plasterboard need to be supported directly behind by a batten or will the beading spread any impact and spread it to the batten...

DIY home automation, notification, Part P?

As someone doing the same type of project - I found it was far easier to just sit down and design the circuits and carry out the inspection and test myself under a LABC building notice. Most electricians don't 'get' the automation side and those who do charge a premium for it as they tend to...

    Joining 8 T&E Cables

Hi, I'm installing a couple of new lighting circuits and need to join 8 (or so) feeds to a single T&E for going into my CU. The longer term plan is to have a central bank of dimmers near the CU and I'll replace this 'thing' with an 8 channel intelligent dimmer - hence why I need to bring...

    Cavity Floor boxes

He asked for good suppliers of boxes, not suppliers of good boxes ;) I spent a day comparing prices for the cable and they were the cheapest....that was when prices were rising quite quickly....probably just slow to up their prices.....

Thanks Woody, Am I right in thinking this is how it goes together. Where the orange is 18mm WBP ply, the green is insulation, the black is the wood joists and the blue is the bay window roof. http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/3123/flatroof.png (EPDM, drip battern, fascias and soffits...
