    Washing exterior brick wall

I have quite a bit construction dust from cutting tiles and slabs etc on some of my brickwork. Once I’m done I want to clean my brickwork. Is it safe to directly hose down exterior bricks or maybe even pressure wash it?

Best way to protect bottom of bathroom door from steam after trimming?

My bathroom door is a solid fire door with an oak-effect laminate finish. Because of bathroom steam over the past 10+ years, the laminate at the very bottom edge (inside bathroom side) has started lifting and feathering very slightly. I’ve recently laid new flooring which has raised the...

I’ve got the following wall plugs it the red 6mm one https://www.toolstation.com/rawlplug-uno-universal-contract-wall-plug/p49379 Does this mean I need to use a 6mm drill bit to make the hole? Also what sort of size diameter and length screw works with this size wall plug? How does one...

Question about flex wire strands on plug terminal

Sorry this might be a bizarre question but hope someone can help: When you open up a plug of an appliance or device that is fitted with a plug, the flexible strands of wire that go into the terminal that get screwed down have some sort of solid copper sleeve crimped to keep them together. So if...

    Floor tiling on wood substrate

About 15 years ago, I tiled my upstairs bathroom using porcelain tiles over a chipboard wood subfloor. At the time, I used a ready-mixed flexible adhesive from Wickes (Wickes brand) that was specifically for wood substrates. I can’t seem to find anything similar now, but I have to say that it...

    Loctite 55 leaking radiator tail

Question about 577 being semi permanent for another fitting. If I used 577 to tighten a fitting to the following picture. This item is held by 3 screws. Then if I ever needed to undo the fitting I could get it off without risking breaking the backplate itself?

    Loctite 55 leaking radiator tail

So even after tightening it calmed down but was still weeping so had to undo it completely and re-did it this time without lsx and did about 9 or 10 turns and tightened it up a lot and seems good now.

    Loctite 55 leaking radiator tail

Update. So i loosens the main valve nut to allow myself the ability to then tighten the tail further. I managed to tighten it quite a bit further not with too much force but a bit of stiffness and now so far it seems to have stopped weeping. Will monitor it. I guess I didn’t want to overtighten...

    Loctite 55 leaking radiator tail

So my first time using loctite 55 cord. I replaced two radiators and previously I’ve always used ptfe tape with mostly good results sometimes a weep which I’ve had to redo but this time because of that slight failure rate I thought I’d try loctite 55 cord as everyone seems to highly praise it...

What’s the Best Way to Cover a Large Pipe Hole Around a Radiator?

I have two 10 mm plastic JG pipes coming out of a stud wall to connect directly to a radiator fitting. I’ve made the hole in the wall about 22 mm in diameter so the 10 mm pipes have room to move and I can make slight adjustments to line them up with the radiator without forcing them into place...

What’s this black plastic on new radiator

Bought a new type 11 radiator to replace one in my house that has some dings and marks. Just wanted to know what this pictured black plastic at the back is. There’s 4 of them. But the radiator hangs on that metal but with the metal bracket. I’m wondering is this some sort of transportation...

Large Tiles, Small Bathroom - Where Should the Grout Lines Go?

My shower tray runs along the entire right-hand wall of the room. On both the right and left walls, the tile layout works out to one full 120cm tile plus about 54cm of another tile. I’ll also have a shower screen that comes out roughly 100cm. Aesthetically, I’m unsure whether I should leave it...

    Screws for metal C studs

I removed old plasterboard from one wall to lay new boards for tiling that is using metal C studs. I’m mostly re-using the screws that I took out. They are not self tapping so I have a metal thread tapping drill bit that taps a slightly smaller hole then I hand screw those old screws back in and...

Slight backfall on short 32mm waste stub into bottle trap

I tested it by running water through a temporary hose with a funnel into the stub. Water only came back when I stopped pouring and withdrew the hose, not while it was flowing. From visually checking it again, the short stub looks dead level or at most very slightly back toward the trap. I will...

Slight backfall on short 32mm waste stub into bottle trap

I have a 32 mm waste pipe solvent welded inside a stud wall, with a short stub (about 15–16 cm) projecting out via a solvent to compression adaptor. Everything inside the wall has correct fall, but I’m slightly concerned the short projection may be level or very slightly falling back toward the...

Large Tiles, Small Bathroom - Where Should the Grout Lines Go?

Ok so I measured this. To the exact centre of the flush plate, toilet pan and window: from left wall to center equals 100cm and from right to centre is 118cm I made mistake of measuring total width as 227 it’s actually 218

Large Tiles, Small Bathroom - Where Should the Grout Lines Go?

The colour of the tiles is beige. If I go with a joint down the centre of the flush plate that would mean 1 vertical joint line down the centre of the room. Whereas if I place one full piece in true centre position and then cut two equal ends for both sides that will mean 2 vertical joint lines

Large Tiles, Small Bathroom - Where Should the Grout Lines Go?

Tiles are already purchased and got good deal on them so returning isn’t an option unfortunately. Yes I’ve done a lot of tiling in the past. Did an entire ground floor flooring at a family members house where i started from the a centre and worked out and they way the lines came out perfectly...

Large Tiles, Small Bathroom - Where Should the Grout Lines Go?

Yes the flush plate is centred to the window recess opening. But the window recess is not centred from wall to wall. from left wall to left edge of window is about 70cm and from right wall to right window edge is about 87cm approx
