Preparing tiled floor for over laying with vinyl

As a suggestion. You could, use the SLC. And if there's any un-even areas. Damp is down and Tickle it with a flush cut blade attached to a grinder (preferably a variable speed to minimise dust) http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=261478390919&globalID=EBAY-GB

Is the flue heating something up on the outside of the flue. Where perhaps, vermiculite isn't insulating it properly?

Wired CCTV through Granite house- solid roof loft

The only thing I can think of. Is if you have a chimney you don't use anymore? Sneak it in from the top. And bring it into your loft? Then you can distribute it to a room from there..

    Adding insulation here?

Wouldn't do any harm putting a bit of insulation down there mate. I'd try to use insulation board incase condensation gets to it. Ruins the wool form if it gets wet

    Skimming over lime rendered walls

I'd go with your trusted friend though. 2 materials, probably shouldn't mix. Although I haven't tried it

    Skimming over lime rendered walls

I've been on a castle job in Oxford recently. And the plasterers there were using lime plaster. If you can afford it, I'd go with it. It's breathable, which means that moisture can escape through the walls. So you should continue having no damp. The finish is slightly more textured than...

Bedroom door keeps coming off hinges!

Alternatively. You could drill 12mm holes, where the screws go, and hammer in some 12mm dowels from your local DIY shop. I'd probably glue them in too. PVA glue is best, just let it dry for a day or so before screwing. Either way, is relatively easy :)

Bedroom door keeps coming off hinges!

You'll probably want a drill or an impact driver to drive the screws in by the way..

Bedroom door keeps coming off hinges!

In what ever order your comfortable with, take the screws out one at a time. Get some pine (from anything) and cut some splinters off it. Make sure the splinters are as long as the screws and nice and wide no wider than the screw thread/shank). Tap the splinters into the holes. Keep adding...

    Floor screed, insulation issue

I thought about timber. As I work for a timber/stonemasonry company. Solid timber, no go with UFH. Engineered maybe, but still seems daft to go to the effort of putting the system in and have an insulating barrier stopping the heat. Thanks for the input anyway guys. Somebody input about...

    Floating shelves

Depends on what wood it was? If it's oak. I'd say it's not too bad. Especially seeing your in London? What thickness are the shelves? We did some oak shelves, supply only to a fella the other day. 2 of them at around 650x350x20 and 6 small strips of 10mmx80mmx2m and it came to nearly £400...

    Celotex boards under timber floor.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'd perhaps just try that and see. As i imagine you'll still want the airflow to stop rising damp. I've just googled this stuff for gaps: http://www.draughtex.co.uk/standard-40m-roll/?fGB=true&gclid=CPDyztCuitICFQONGwodM6gMPg Might find a cheaper version on eBay...
