    Concrete Screws / Thunderbolts

I've just discovered these recently, and am already a fan. I particularly like the fact they are non-expanding, and so I can use them near the edge of bricks/concrete, and also just with less risk of cracking what I'm going into. Just one question, can you reuse them in the same hole, i.e...

Water leaking from side of bath

The sealant along the side of my bath came away, and water has leaked down and is coming through the ceiling and walls. I have a dehumidifier drying it out. Do I just wait until dry and then stainblock and paint? Or should I be concerned with damage and/or mould?

    Cordless Makita Drill

Thanks for the replies. It's a fairly new battery, 3ah. I do drill holes, and this was when I was screwing a 6 x 150 mm screw in. I think I am going to get an impact driver, I just wasn't sure how bad it is to push the drill to it maximum.

    Cordless Makita Drill

Is it bad for the drill to put it on "drill" mode to drive screws? i.e. no clutch setting so that it keeps driving when the screws are very hard to get in/out? Sometimes the drill seems to be struggling when I do this, and can almost stop rotating completely. I don't want to burn out the...

Not sure where to fix now area has cracked

I want to fix a 75 x 75 wooden post to the side of the patio (where I have cut the slab acknowledge is where the post will be positioned). The post will then be used to support some 1.2m fencing that will run along the top of the patio. I will fit a total of 4 posts along the patio.

Not sure where to fix now area has cracked

I did think it seemed OTT, but I'm new to all this so I went with the advice. I'm now thinking I will use wither M10 x 150 screws and plugs, or maybe some M10 / M12 concrete screws. What I'm looking for though please is advice with how to fix the mess of the cracked area, which is where I...

Not sure where to fix now area has cracked

Hi, I was given the advice to use M16 anchor bolts to hold a post to a patio, but the first one which I've tightened up has created a large crack. So far I don't know if this will just be the render thats cracked (I think it's brick underneath, judging by the red dust when I drilled the...

Air Bricks to help condensation / prevent dry rot

We only appear to have one air brick under floor level. The plan is to replace that and fit one more near it and four more at the back of the house. We dry a lot of clothes in the house as we are a family of 4 and don't have a tumble dryer (yet). We dry outside when possible but obviously...

Air Bricks to help condensation / prevent dry rot

"He" is a damp specialist. The problem I want fixing is that there is a high level of moisture in the air that is leading to damp patches forming, potential health problems, and mould growing which makes a smell and is ruining some kitchen utensils

Air Bricks to help condensation / prevent dry rot

Cheers, yeah think is for sub floor as he talks about knocking through inner wall brick skin to create adequate sub floor and cavity ventilation. However, he does say the air bricks will be fitted at the "rear wall elevations". I think we do need something done other than just opening...

Air Bricks to help condensation / prevent dry rot

Hi, I have had a quotation for 6 double red plastic air bricks to be fitted in two parts of my house where we are having some condensation issues. First of all, is this going to help much? Is it more to prevent future dry rot? Will it cause the house to get colder more easily? Secondly...
