Radiator diagrams - where can 22mm change to 15mm?

Thank you so much Madrab, you’ve been very patient and I’ve learned a lot from you. (y)

Radiator diagrams - where can 22mm change to 15mm?

Thanks It's a mix of notches and holes but will bear that in mind! Madrab - Thank you very much for taking the time to update the diagram, I am very grateful. I have one radiator (G2) which is 7000 BTU/2kW. G6 and G7 are both in the region of 5000BTU/1.5kW so together are 10000 BTU/3kW so...

Radiator diagrams - where can 22mm change to 15mm?

Thank you Madrab, I mistakenly thought that if there was a radiator within 12inches of a 22mm pipe then all rads needed to be within 12 inches. If I'm now understanding it correctly, if I at least get 22m whereby there's a similar run of 15mm to the furthest of a 'family' of rads, even if it's...

backerboard and extra noggings/taped joints vs tanked plasterboard

Thanks Jahjahbinks. I’ve done exactly as you said - Marmox backerboard in the wet areas and m/r plasterboard everywhere else. I’m not finished yet but I’ll have to look into Regs as Marmox say their boards are waterproof and only need taping/sealing.

Radiator diagrams - where can 22mm change to 15mm?

Funny you should say that- it's the only run of pipe that's in 22mm! Thanks for your help. I think the only way to achieve runs of 15mm will be to run 22mm up to the rads themselves! Can it be 22mm Hep? I know the diameter is less but will the increased size be sufficient?

Radiator diagrams - where can 22mm change to 15mm?

Hello Am starting a new thread as, based on the advice I got (thank you), I need to upgrade my central heating pipework from 15mm to 22mm. I'm hoping to find out how much of it can stay and how much of it needs changing. In total there are 21 radiators totalling 23 Kw, across three floors...

    35kW combi, 15mm CH pipes, 22kW rads - problem?

Thanks to all, it’s really helped and I understand more now. I will bite the bullet and get 22mm pipes. The plumber asked me to send him a schematic diagram (which I’d like to do for myself anyway). Does anyone know if there’s a decent (free) drawing tool available? I looked at MS Paint but...

    35kW combi, 15mm CH pipes, 22kW rads - problem?

Sorry, would you mind explaining what that means?

    35kW combi, 15mm CH pipes, 22kW rads - problem?

No info, sorry. He ran two taps and used a container that was overflowing as it filled. I didn’t see him do the pressure but he mentioned about it being okay, and said something about it probably having a limiter on it, so no problem.

    35kW combi, 15mm CH pipes, 22kW rads - problem?

Is there any heating system that will work off 15mm pipes? If so might be cheaper to change the boiler than the upheaval of changing the pipes?

Side lamps controlled by ‘light switch’?

Thanks for the replies. Yes. I use smart bulbs already. I’ll stick with them!

    35kW combi, 15mm CH pipes, 22kW rads - problem?

There’s a 22mm to 15mm reducer under the floorboards below the boiler. I’m tracing it all now and will sketch it out. Thanks for everyone’s input.

    35kW combi, 15mm CH pipes, 22kW rads - problem?

Thanks for the replies. Yes, he said flow and pressure was okay but didn’t give me any readings. It’s a mix of plastic and copper pipe as an extension has been added.. I replaced the 15mm copper hot and cold supply with 22mm Hep. For the CH the extension was in old 15mm Hep which has been...

    35kW combi, 15mm CH pipes, 22kW rads - problem?

I’m feeling despondent so please go easy on me. I’ve swapped 15mm hot and cold pipes for 22mm and where I could get access replaced the old 15mm CH pipe with new 15mm Hep20. I’ve got a 35kw combi boiler that feeds a 5 bed house including loft conversion. There’s a main bathroom with separate...

Side lamps controlled by ‘light switch’?

Just an idle thought… In an ideal world I’d like the side lamps in my living room (which are plugged into the double sockets) to come on via a switch as you enter the room i.e. same as how you control the overhead light. (I rarely have the overhead one on.) A fused spur would look awful but...

Replace red and black 10mm cable to loft conversion?

Thanks, it does work so I’ll leave it be. Everything else in the CU is blue and brown so it’s not too ancient.

Replace red and black 10mm cable to loft conversion?

Yes, what’s the point in all circuits tripping when just one could. So it’d be more useful to run a lighting cable and a socket cable to the loft? This may be where I feel out of my depth and leave well alone. Do the cables run to the loft CU or does that become redundant? If so would you...

Replace red and black 10mm cable to loft conversion?

Thanks Jurassicspark. So does that mean it would be better to have the loft lighting and sockets as two separate circuits from the main CU and forget about the loft CU?

Replace red and black 10mm cable to loft conversion?

No, there’s plenty of space in the CU. Getting more cable through the back might be a challenge though. Looks like it. Shiny red and black. Had to Google that and still don’t understand!

Replace red and black 10mm cable to loft conversion?

Thanks all. I just looked at Building Regs and it looks like the conversion was done in 1991. I’ve got no problem with it, but I wondered if it’d give a better impression down the line if the house was ever sold.
