Toilet - wooden with white plastic coating. How to fix a tiny chip?

I've always thought that 100% plastic seats were a bit thin and seemed cheap and ready to break. Do you have any recommendations?

Toilet - wooden with white plastic coating. How to fix a tiny chip?

Thanks. I've also just found my receipt, it's under two years old, I wonder if B&Q would honour the two year guarantee and replace it ........

Toilet - wooden with white plastic coating. How to fix a tiny chip?

This is the seat that I have: https://www.diy.com/departments/bemis-ultra-fix-denver-white-round-standard-close-toilet-seat/303657_BQ.prd The inner rear edge of the seat has a very tiny chip in it, no idea how it got there. The chip is maybe 2 to 3mm long. I want to cover it to avoid water...

External waste pipe from washing machine - need a new Pushfit elbow joint but can't find one to fit this 43mm diameter pipe

Thanks again Chris. Think I'll probably go with the compression elbow because it'll be easier to dismantle if ever required.

External waste pipe from washing machine - need a new Pushfit elbow joint but can't find one to fit this 43mm diameter pipe

Ah, I see. Thanks. That explains why the old elbow never seemed to fit right and sometimes came loose (it was installed before I moved to this property). So something like this? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282352950701 In my case it's for outside use of course but I can't see how that would...

External waste pipe from washing machine - need a new Pushfit elbow joint but can't find one to fit this 43mm diameter pipe

The waste pipe in question (and the bit that sticks out of the wall) has an outside diameter of 43mm and I need a new Pushfit 90 degree elbow joint for it, something like this: https://www.homebase.co.uk/make-push-fit-90-degrees-bend-40mm/12831236.html In fact I had a spare one that was marked...

Oil boiler - cost of a new pump and motor seems over the top

Thanks John, I assume that the motor just uses two bearings of the same size/type?

Oil boiler - cost of a new pump and motor seems over the top

Thanks, that gives me some hope. I'm going to check out Heating World of Spares tomorrow but just out of interest where did you buy the parts for yours?

Oil boiler - cost of a new pump and motor seems over the top

Thanks, but is an average layman such as myself allowed to work on an oil boiler which usually requires an accredited service engineer?

Oil boiler - cost of a new pump and motor seems over the top

I have an intermittent fault (strange noise) with my Danesmoor 15/19 which could be the oil pump, the motor or the fan. As the fault is intermittent and only happens for a few minutes at a time I'm not planning on doing about it right now, however I have some prices for the above parts for my...

Something in my oil boiler making an 'oscillating' noise for a few minutes after startup (sound files attached)

Oil Boiler is a Danesmoor 15/19 For a few days now, and only intermittently, when the boiler has been off for a few hours and then turned on there is sometimes a noticeable rattling/oscillating sound. This last for a few minutes then stops. There's nothing obviously physically loose under the...

Scratches on base of bath - new bath required?

Nope, no cat. I'm wondering if at some time when cleaning the bath some grit got stuck in whatever sponge I was using to do the job. That's the only possible cause I can think of right now. Also, they are definitely scratches at the moment because when I stand in the bath they don't appear to...

Scratches on base of bath - new bath required?

Thanks. Tempted to get a new bath but only want to go down that route if there's no other option. Does it then sound like my current bath is a lost cause?

Scratches on base of bath - new bath required?

Only just noticed that my plastic bath has a number of parallel scratches on the base - these start around about the mid point and are heading in the direction of the plughole end of the bath (but aren't at the plughole). The top one is the most noticeable and is about 17 inches long - not only...

Waterproof junction box - who makes good quality ones?

Thanks for all of the helpful suggestions. Think I'll use Wago connectors for the wires but having never used them before which ones should I go for?

Waterproof junction box - who makes good quality ones?

I need to replace an old halogen floodlight but need to cut the current wire that exits via some brickwork and then connect that to the wire on the new LED floodlight. So I need a waterproof junction box that will handle both the older grey 'rectangular profile' wire and the new black 'round...

Buying a chest freezer - best manufacturers and those to avoid?

Thanks, I've never heard of them. Have they been around long? How is their customer care in the event of any issues?

Buying a chest freezer - best manufacturers and those to avoid?

Interesting, why is that? The room it will be in can fall to 10 degrees or so in cold winter weather but it's usually probably around 14 degrees in average winter weather and of course warmer in summer (the room also faces south (only with a small window though) so can get very warm in summer).
