    DIY Satellite Dish Install

Yes, I hope it's not the cause of the problem. I propose to check the voltage at the wall plate during the fault condition (13 and 18v I believe) lnb under load.

    DIY Satellite Dish Install

Well, owing to the amount of work involved in replacing the cable - I hate that comment with a passion! Note for later - do your homework!

    DIY Satellite Dish Install

Hi Sam, No, the long run is labgear shotgun from screwfix (not very good), do you think it could be down to cable impedance/volt drop rather than signal loss?

    DIY Satellite Dish Install

Just a quick follow-up: I had some spare time after all, so I connected the decoder to the other 2 lnb outputs (in the other room) and left it in standby while at work. That night it behaved itself impeccably for an hour or so. I then moved it to the problem room, where it also behaved for...

    DIY Satellite Dish Install

Hello All, Having never dabbled in the world of satellite tv, I thought I would change over to Freesat & install the dish myself. Set up is as follows: 40cm Raven Mk4 minidish, Zinwell Sky branded Quad LNB, just under 20m shotgun cable to one room, twin run of RG6 to second room, all...

I diagnosed mine by removing the suspect switch, hey presto - fault went away. So replaced switch. Mine was one of these:

    UMC TV

I had exactly the same issue with an Asus screen (I've also seen it branded Relisis). It was a faulty volume up tactile switch on the set (not remote). The give away for me was the fact the volume OSD remained on permanently when in the fault condition. Hope this helps!

    Creda 3.5kw storage heater

I had a 3.5kW storage heater on a 13a FCU - the fuse got so hot that the fuse, holder & FCU became one. I replaced with a 20a DP switch. But the OP says he replaced the switch, which I am assuming means the isolator.

Have you checked the fuse/MCB in the off peak CU (fuse box)?

    Electric Shower

Good evening All. I don't visit this section of the forum often as plumbing is not my DIY forte! I have a problem with a Gainsborough Energy 1000x electric shower - the flow is quite poor with the valve set to fully cold & when turned towards hot, the "reduce temp" light comes on. Fully...

    plugs left on

They look like a good idea, however these are air driven, so an electronic equivalent could be adjusted via a pot. Did you watch the vid on how to fit the Green Plug? Section One.......

    LG Smart TV

This is what I feared - another cost saving I suppose. Not so long ago, vast connectivity was paramount when buying a TV, now you get about 14 HDMI ports & a mains input. So I'm thinking the way around it is to get one of these...

    LG Smart TV

A friend of mine has the above TV, it has no analogue audio outs other than from the SCART socket. This works fine with Freeview tuner etc. but there is no audio from the SCART when using the internet features - YT for example. Does anyone know why this is? The manual (paper & the one on...

    Mini cooper accident damage

I read that as: the phone flew across the car & the screen of the phone broke rather than the screen of the car?

    HV Pylon Anatomy

Inspired by RF Lighting's recent pylon post, here is mine: This is the larger of two overhead supplies to an industrial estate. Does anybody know what purpose the metal screens in the centre serve? Also, what voltage are these carrying?
