    Uneven Skirting Oil and Emo

I have taken the skirting and architrave back to the wood and used Danish oil on them. The problem is the walls have been replastered and patched up several times over the century since the house was built and are completely uneven and in parts overlap the skirting. Normally I would draw a line...

    Mix and Match Floor Oils

I thought that but wrote to Colron to check and they replied "Thank you for your email. The Danish Oil does have a water proof finish and does not require over coating. Please be aware the Danish Oil is not for floors this product is not designed to be walked upon." Although they had no idea...

    Treads

I am replacing the main stair case with a cut down metal fire escape. Bit like this but not as grand or expensive and in a two up two down terrace with the bit on the back. I just want to keep the three stairs on the landing leading from the extension to the main part of the house. They dont...

    Cracked ceiling

I have a few hairline cracks in the hallway and stairwell ceiling which I can only reach with a long arm. Is this Polycell ceiling paint any good or a waste of money. Any alternatives as I dont want to pay anyone to paint a few square metres or hang off a ladder in the stairwell.

    Floor Sanding for beginner

My 16 year old nephew wants to turn his room into a bed sit. Sanding the floor is the main job I can hire a drum sander for £36 for 3 days. He has already sanded the edges with hand sanders and the floor is about 4m x 4 metres with two coats of emulsion paint on them. Unfortunately I cannot...

    Decking oil without wood preserve

I have been laying scaffold board decking but as much as I clean the boards to almost white as soon as I apply wood preserve the wood darkens considerably. If I apply clear decking oil only it preserves the orginal colour and patina of the wood far better. As decking oil is waterproof would...

There are so many different typs of ferilisers (if thats the word) recommended. I just get confused. The same with advice on composts for seeds...

    Flooring for Butterfly Loft

I doubt if he could get in there if he was 15st ! Its less than a metre and a half high at the wall and slopes down to the floor within 2 metres. I am only 1.67m tall and I am banging my head when I am crawling along the wall. Although I take your point.

    Flooring for Butterfly Loft

Got a bit nervous and put down an extra layer Maybe not needed but made me feel better . It was 4mm to start with which was a little bouncy between joists but is now solid. But because of the lack of height I am not up there for long and doubt if I will be up there very often either.

    Flooring for Butterfly Loft

Not much space up there. About 1.50m tops reducing, and about 4 metres long for me to store boxes. The joists are 40cm apart. I am only going to store boxes of books and other stuff that I can carry up there on a ladder so nothing too heavy. Probably just a single line of boxes about 50cm high...
