    Terminating garden lighting cables

Hi I've got some festoon 240v LED string lights like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Outdoor-OxyLED-Waterproof-Christmas-WarmWhite/dp/B0829L5VBG/ and I'm wanting to rejig the cabling to run two in parallel and then an extension to a second set of lights. It appears that extension cables for...

    Layout for shower enclosure

Hi Are there any rules of thumb regarding tile sizes and layouts for enclosures of different dimensions? I've got a 800 wide x 900 deep 3 sided enclosure in an ensuite and I'd like to use a large plain white tile to minimise grout lines, but I'm struggling with how to judge which layout will...

Boiler efficiency in the real world - old WB vs new Intergas

What did the OP go for in the end? I'm in a very similar situation - old WB Highflow 400 looking at an Xtreme or Xclusiv with Drayton Wiser. Only the one bathroom but I like a decent shower which the Highflow was very good at. I've only experienced older combis with not very good DHW flow rates...

TRVs not fully open at maximum?

Some pics of the bodies of two TRVs in case it helps: Will have to check the balancing properly next time.

TRVs not fully open at maximum?

Thanks, as I said before I found the temp fixing/limiting procedure in the PDF but this has not been done on the valves, otherwise they would not be able to be set at V. Answers to D_Hailsham's Qs: Yes the bodies may not match the heads, but IMO it's unlikely given that swapping heads from...

TRVs not fully open at maximum?

Ok here's some pics of the TRV - no model markings that I can see, just '0811', which doesn't appear to correspond to a model. As mentioned by MrTherm it indeed has a screwdriver slot to lift up the body and allows you set a different max temp, but this has not been done on any of the valves...

TRVs not fully open at maximum?

Yes, as I said before "As I unscrew the knurled ring I can hear the water flow entering the rad, even when the TRV is on max."

TRVs not fully open at maximum?

Exactly, the rooms are not reaching the right temp. Sure I understand how the numbered TRV settings work, but maximum (or 'V' whatever that is) should be full flow, no?

TRVs not fully open at maximum?

Tx for the info. Will try to find the exact model and see if there are any adjustments. It's a newly purchased house and having see the prev occupant's handiwork I wouldn't be surprised if the valves didn't match the bodies! I have a spare Honeywell which I will try to screw on to see if that...

TRVs not fully open at maximum?

Hi A friend has an issue with her downstairs rads not reaching full temp, so after some basic diagnosis (bleeding rads, refilling system) I found that by unscrewing the knurled ring on the TRVs and removing the top part that the rads became fully hot. This was rather a surprise to me as I...

Miele tumble dryer leaking from bottom

Thanks. I couldn't find any blow up diagrams, only the wiring schematic that comes with the dryer, tucked under the lid - similar to http://itsme.home.xs4all.nl/projects/dryer/. Unfortunately that doesn't show the actual parts so doesn't help much in this case. However I did find an informative...

Miele tumble dryer leaking from bottom

Hi My dryer recently developed an issue with water leaking from the rear panel (as in http://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/miele-tumble-dryer-condensing-leaking.302779/) and I fixed that issue by removing the flaking old gasket seal and resealing the rear panel to the main unit using heat...

Is sludge worse in colder weather?

Hi My heating always stops working during a cold spell (coldest room is about 14deg) but it eventually "wakes up" and starts to work later in the day. The hot water is always fine. During warmer spells the heating seems to be OK apart from a couple of rads in the basement which only get...
