    Combi or Standard Boiler?

I can fill 1liter from the bathroom tap in around 5.5 seconds. No idea if that's good or bad. Our shower is pretty pathetic. Edit: Just noticed we have one of these: https://www.anchorpumps.com/grundfos-ups-15-60-130-super-selectric-domestic-heating-circulator-240v Is that pumping the heating...

    Combi or Standard Boiler?

We have a Glow Worm Space Saver mkII which is over 30 years old... It's obviously incredibly inefficient but is working fine... we know eventually this will break and so wondering if we should invest in a new boiler now to save monthly costs now energy prices are through the roof. The question...

    Subsidence or bad workmanship?

We have a wonky back door that is quite obvious by eye. If I measure the left edge of the house to the architrave it's 2cm longer towards the top of the architrave than it is at the bottom. This is backed-up with a 900mm spirit level on the inside of the wall / doorframe. We have 1 cracked...

Doorframe looks to be leanig to one side.

Red zig-zag is cracked mortar (gas flue?) Red circle is the split brick Red circle at the bottom is where water pools. Door looks worse in real life, but on here only about 3-4cm out.

Doorframe looks to be leanig to one side.

We've got a backdoor that looks to be leaing to one side. Not sure if this is an optical illusion but I've stuck a spirit level up on the walls inside and this seems to confirm it. Outside there is some sunken ground which has started to pool water, along with some cracked mortar and bricks so...

    Pooling water + cracked bricks

We have some water pooling outside our house, and it's getting worse -we also have a single cracked brick right above this area and further up quote a lot of cracked mortar. I am concerned about foundations etc but have no idea if this is valid, and if so who I'd call to get it checked out...

Unfortunately needs to be 100% a solid fix.

Looking for a rubber clamp with an eyelet.

Hi - I need a clamp that comes with an eyelet or some kind of fixing. The clamp is to wrap around a 45-55mm diameter steel shaft (hollow) and it's important not to mark it so it should be rubber or padded. I think wish to hook a caribena onto it so it needs some kind of eyelet. Something...

Best way to shut off hot water on this system

I need to replace a kitchen tap ASAP - the only issue is I can't seem to isolate the hot water which is coming from our tank. The hot water out pipe has no gate valve as you can see in the image attached. There is also no shut-off valve under the cupboard in the kitchen. There is another big...

How much should I be paying for a shower pump?

Looking for a pump to increase shower pressure only. Not looking for the Rolls Royce of shower pumps, just something practical and functional that will give us normal to good shower pressure. That's all. I'm aware of the varied price range, as with any service work. This is exactly why I...

Thanks, I have heard that, but this is for someone to also fit it, I assume they will want to supply the pump too.

Wife has ripped the curtain rail down!!!:mad::mad::mad:

Pretty sure it's aerated concrete block as I can dig it with my screwdriver, if not it's the latter but definitely not a concrete lintel.

Wife has ripped the curtain rail down!!!:mad::mad::mad:

Actually, in this place it's not as deep as other walls. Maybe it's the lintel? Anyway it's just over 1 inch from the brick to the plasterboard.

Wife has ripped the curtain rail down!!!:mad::mad::mad:

:mad::mad::mad::mad:So the wife, in her wisdom tried to put up some xmas lights along our curtain rail that covers 2 massive patio doors, slipped and held onto the rail ripping it out and leaving massive holes in the plaster. We have regular plasterboard with a pretty deep cavity followed...

    Best wood for shelf

OK thanks - this is the construction I was thinking of doing: We can't really have any supports going downwards so I guess a floating shelf system is my only option? We want it similar to the bottom shelf in this photo:

    Best wood for shelf

OK so I actually measured the s[ace instead of guessing - it's no where near 10ft :/ it's 2m pretty much exact. Does that change things?
