RCD Tripping - IR readings of Electric Fan Steam Oven.

Hi all, Want to know what sort of IR readings I should be expecting between the case and the various elements (with the elements disconnected of course) of my Electrolux Steam fan oven as in recent times it has been tripping the RCD.:( I have had it switched off at the local...

Open garage door from mobile phone

There a number of options and a lot of electric garage doors have the option to hard wire a button or a extra low voltage input to open/close them, and often can be interfaced with automation type relay modules; however security is a big concern. What happens if you open it up whilst your away...

In regards to subwoofers, what's the difference between a motor and a voice coil?

I have seen a number of videos on YouTube of people talking about their car subwoofers and the respective "motors"; what from what I can tell, the motor is the round big bit at the back of the subwoofer what contains what I would call the voice coil. Is "motor" just another name for the voice...

Changing the bulb on this recessed spotlight

They don't have bulbs, what they have is a non replaceable LED COB. If the light fixture itself is at fault and it's not your electrical environment as suggested by endecotp, then you will have to replace the LED fixtures themselves.

What do you recon this is?

My worst night mare as a kid , Ultrasonic cat scares that were supposed to be inaudible to humans, but were in fact painfully audible and unpleasant to me! They emit various sounds in the 18KHz - 24KHz region usually. I would happily ban those devices if I could!

Pyronix Enforcer Panel - SMS call Fail

Should also mention that my panel has the GPRS module installed. I also recall the panel giving a ARC error at the time of responding to the fault, but that did not show up in the event logs and don't know why that would even ever present such an error when no alarm receiving center has ever...

Pyronix Enforcer Panel - SMS call Fail

The other day for the first time in 4 years, my Pyronix Enforcer Home Control+ panel started beeping and went into a fault condition for the first time under a normal idle state. The error what I believe caused the "fault condition" was a "SMS call Fail" event, although not sure why it...

When were mains (230V/240V) underwater lights banned?

Mains pond pumps are allowed, but I am sure back in the 50's/60's/70's there used to be 240v underwater lights feed straight from the mains used in ponds and commercial fountains. I was under the impression that these are no longer allowed and I wanted to know when did this change and under what...

When were mains (230V/240V) underwater lights banned?

I know some very old water fountains use to have mains powered underwater lights. Just wondering what the history is behind when the were banned and made presumably illegal? Regards: Elliott.

    Replacement UPS Recommendation?

Some may know that I have a APC Smart 1500VA UPS that protects my network and rack server at my home. It is normally at a 25% load. The UPS was original manufactured in September 2007 and I bought it second hand on ebay in 2013. I have replaced the batteries twice since having it and are due to...

Automatic blinds - too expensive. Ever considered making your own?

The ones that cost £115 and £129?, I would happily pay that per blind as long as it could integrate with SmartThings/Z-Wave. When I think pricey, I think high hundreds and low thousands per blind.
