    How to fix this.....

Thanks all. Probably best if I get a pro in to re-skim that wall. It’s only a cloakroom wall about 1000mm x 2400mm. Trouble is would a plasterer want such a small job? Best ring around a few Thanks for all the replies.

Stupid question time here. Two olives in the picture, which is which? I need to use one on plastic pipe and understand I need to use a copper olive. If I were guessing i’d say copper on the right. Thanks

    Tapered basin waste !!

I’ve gone for a freeflow waste as it’s only a small basin with no overflow. Currently as is it, is no use as when the flange is in contact with the upper basin, the domed top of the waste is still below the level on the basin (it’s in the taper). So I was going do as above and ‘pack’ out the...

    Tapered basin waste !!

Hi guys My new small cloakroom basin has a tapered waste hole (photo below). Every other waste I have fitted has always been flush with the bottom of the basin. Will a normal waste seal on this? Assuming as the hole tapers in eventually it will form a seal against the washer, but will the...

Which tile adhesive, can I use ready mixed

Thanks for replying. In the end I did use a cement based powdered adhesive as the tiles changed to 900 x 300’s. Trouble now is, I’ve got to do the bottom row (started off a batten) and no adhesive left. Final two are approx 300 x 200 so will need to buy a small bag of adhesive for these.

Which tile adhesive, can I use ready mixed

Hi all i know powdered adhesive has to be used on large format tiles, however..... I am tiling the back wall of my cloakroom, a massive 1m2 (I only need 8 tiles (600x300). The width is around 900mm so I’ll be working out from the centre line, so around 450mm per tile. Given the cut tiles will...

Toilet cistern inlet valve not shutting off

Bought this valve https://www.screwfix.com/p/thomas-dudley-ltd-side-entry-fill-valve/7058f However, entry is left hand side towards the back. This valve outlet is towards the rear meaning it won’t fit. Assuming the outlet spout can be rotated 180 degrees?

Toilet cistern inlet valve not shutting off

Thanks for the reply. Does not shut off if arm is fully lifted to its stop. Dismantled the valve, took washer out and cleaned everything. Even when dismantled, lifting the arm appears to do nothing. Think i’ll Just have to get a new one.

Toilet cistern inlet valve not shutting off

Hi Fitted a new Armitage Shanks Conceala 2 cistern last weekend. Just tested the inlet and it’s not shutting off once the float rises. All the components came pre-installed in the cistern. I’ve spoken to the place I bought it from and they’ve said send me a photo (not sure what help that is)...

Concealed toilet cistern - flush pipe entry

Hi all Just about to start installing new conceala 2 concealed cistern. When test fitting the flush pipe I was surprised it didn’t go up into the flush outlet very far. Looking up the outlet there are lugs stopping the flush pipe. Are these reminents of the moulding process? Does the flush...

Joining LED strips - what gauge wire

Hi I’m looking to install some LED strip lights under my kitchen wall cabinets to light up my worktop areas whilst preparing food. There are two sides to install with the hob extractor in the middle. I was hoping to get a 5m length, cut to length for each side then solder a cable between the...

Conceala 2 cistern - not reverisble?

Hi, Purchased an Armitage Shanks concealed cistern (S364367). All the photos I saw online have the inlet on the right hand side, mine has come with it on the left. I though I would simply spin it around so the inlet is on the right, however cistern has 'FRONT' marked on it and instructions...

    Concealed toilet cisterns

Hi, Looking to build a small partition and install a concealed cistern in my downstairs cloakroom. Are there any physical shops where I can buy concealed cisterns from instead of online retailers? I would like to look at the flush plate / button before purchasing. What I don't want is to buy...

    Smart CCTV recommendations.

Hi Thinking about adding CCTV to my home, originally thought about just a smart cam such as Nest or Hive; however a dedicated cctv would probably be better Requirements: - 4 cameras should suffice - Good quality, no cheap rubbish - Facility to watch both live stream and recorded stream via a...
