its open vented 11kw to a system boiler, installer suggesting 19kw, that's nearly up there with a small combi 23kw

I thought that they had to do a test on the gas feed pipe to see. 19kw system boiler, what r the chances of it needing a 22mm feed, I know that a lot of it is down to no of bends and length from meter etc

Suppose they could argue that a gas feed increase from 15 to 22 mm was not obvious at the time

Just curious. New boiler quote (not estimate) but co has no T&C's, What would happen if needed to charge for extras? ie upgrading gas pipe to 22mm

No it's open vent but I can't have another, there is no head of water between f&e tank and boiler as it's in a flat. Not sure how this has worked ok for the past 40 years, installed when flats built so ancient

Exturbo Can't have open vent boiler , installer didn't reccomend pressurising vented/heat only boiler, he said system boiler best option. Not that I necessarily agree with that but who am I to disagree

Thanks Have also noticed that installers try and push u to get a combi boiler , going from an old vented system to a system boiler or combi, surely similar in terms of work involved

Valid points, thanks. Did email the co querying the 19kw and they just came back saying that's the size the installer recommended without any reasons why

thanks Muggles Its the technical dept at Viessman that r saying no difference in 11kw and 19kw so both will work off 15mm feed. the installer is insisting that 19kw is the correct boiler size regardless of the fact that my current vented boiler is 11k and no heat loss calc done

Thanks GG Still trying to work out 11kw v 19kw . If the 11k works from a 15mm feed will the 19kw or not necessarily. Installer says 19kw the right one to fit. Technical at veissman said both the same, is that possible

MM thanks Flat used to be hot enough on 12kw , didn't really want to change feed to 22/28 unless really necessary
