(Gas leak) Fitting new kitchen (1st problem...)

I've tried to find the best section to post my concern in, but decided to start a thread in case I need more assistance. After disconnecting the gas/electric cooker via the bayonet connection, and having used some soapy water on the supply pipe outlet, there appears to be a slight leak (a few...

    Thermostatic Shower flow problem...

Having just fitted an Aqualisa M100 Thermostatic shower to a gravity fed system, there seems to a water flow problem. When you run the shower at the lowest temperature setting (cold) the water gushes out with plenty of back pressure, but as soon as you increase the temperature, it becomes limp...

    Waterflow despite turning off mains?

I'm in the process of replacing my toilet basin, and when I turned off the mains in the street outside, and opened the taps until they were empty, the cold water pipe kept producing water. In addition the loo kept refilling and had to be flushed to lessen the flow. What does this mean?

    Gas Fire feed question...

I have an existing gas pipe that sits about 2-3 inches above floor level, and has obviously been capped. The problem I have is that I'm about to lay new laminate flooring and would like to cut the pipe flush, but I'm concerned that it is still connected at the gas supply. There is an old pipe in...

Trying to buy small taps for toilet basin

It looks like I'll have to, it's just that you can often pick them up used online for much less than you pay in high street stores, and I'm not looking for ugly contemporary designs

Trying to buy small taps for toilet basin

I'm looking to replace the small taps in our toilet basin, but when I look online, I can't seem to find any sellers that stock them. Are they called by a specific name, or just no longer available? I ordered a set on eBay based on their description (toilet basin taps) but when they arrived, they...

Affordable wall tile adhesive and separate grout?

I have a 7m2 area to wall tile and having read the tips at the top of this section, can anyone suggest an affordable product that I can use for decent results? BAL appears to be very dear and I naturally want to avoid using two-in-one pap...

    Very noisy CH cycle..

I recently drained the CH system and mains water supply to remove a radiator and plumb in a new sink/tap unit, and after refilling the system and bleeding the radiators, there is a very noisy gushing happening during the heating cycle. In addition to this, the motorized valve tends to move from...

Adding another 2G SS from cooker connection?

I currently have a range cooker connected to a large junction box, which in turn is fed from a cooker outlet on the wall. What I'd like to know is if it's safe to run a new socket further along the wall from the JB?

Waste pipe height re: new kitchen sink..

Right, having lined up the new sink unit with the existing waste pipe, you'll see from the pictures that the height difference is always going to prove too great to work, so I'm considering two options and would appreciate any advice offered regards the best way forward: 1. Chase out a whole...

Waste pipe height re: new kitchen sink..

Cut what out? The waste pipe is chased into the wall at a fixed angle, are you talking about inserting a bend lower down and meeting the connections earlier? :?

Waste pipe height re: new kitchen sink..

I'm in the process of replacing the existing metal sink with a Belfast unit, and the waste pipe has been chased into the wall behind the current units. It also appears that allowing for the depth of the new sink, the replacement P trap will sit/connect about 50-60mm lower than the waste pipe...

How best to finish this section of wall?

    1. We're currently renting 2. We are on an extremely limited income (working tax credits) due to this wonderful recession. 3. The TV was less than £240 over a year ago, and thanks, it's pretty good.
