    Weatherproof double socket

Here is the certificate. I have taken out all identifiable info. The chap was very genuine and did a very good job in my opinion. I would certainly use him again. I think someone asked, was there an internal plug socket behind the outside one he put in...yes there was, a double with a lamp and...

    Weatherproof double socket

Hi all. I went ahead with the work. The guy came and did a great job. Very quick and £60 as quoted. Would get him back to do other bits. Here is what I have got, works perfectly...

    New Build Snagging

Thanks everyone for your posts on this. The builders never showed up last Tuesday as promised. Didn't really matter as I spent the time I should have been seeing them finding even more faults. I contacted the housing association last week to explain that no one has been out, and still, they have...

    Weatherproof double socket

Hi there, I have been quoted £60 by my local electrician to install a double weatherproof socket for mowing lawn / strimmer. I would quite like to source my own socket and wondered if anyone had any recommendations. There seem to be so many out there. My house (it is brand new) has been...

    New Build Snagging

Hi there, I have purchased a shared ownership new build and moved one week ago. The shared ownership Housing Association has told me the builders are coming in this week and I should have a list of snagging items ready for them. Can't say I have ever done this, but have been around the house...

    Flooring for my shed

Hi there, I have a nice new shed which came with my house. I am looking to put some sort of flooring in the shed, just to give the original one a little bit of extra protection. Whenever I look up online on Wickes or Homebase sites, it is only giving me the sort of flooring that you would put...

    Pipe part?

Thanks, hmmm wonder if it will do as good a job as a water softener...me thinks not. Out of interest, does anyone think I could fit a small water softener in this cupboard? This is a two bed house, so would not be needing anything huge.

CCTV Power Wiring in new build loft

Ok perfect, I doubt I will use much. Was thinking of using an Axis DVR which has its own POE 8 port switch built in, so would just need the one socket. Is that something I could do myself? They are quite strict on making changes to the wiring in new builds. Apparently, if it is anything half...

CCTV Power Wiring in new build loft

Hi there, Someone else on this forum had very sensibly suggested that housing a DVR in the loft and then running the camera cables down from the roof behind the guttering is quite an easy and neat way of putting some CCTV cameras on the side of the house. My house is complete now and I got to...

    AU GUF 4011-30 Bulbs?

Hi there, Not sure where else to put this post. The house I am currently renting has four recessed lights in the bathroom ceiling. Two have recently blown. I have taken one out and can't say I have ever heard of such a bulb: Aurora AU GUF 4011/30 11w GU10220-240V WARM WHITE The cheapest I...

Running additional sattelite cables from my loft to lounge

Thanks for your reply. What makes you think there is a right angle? From what I can see, this cable run goes straight down with no turns or right angles. The wires come out in the lounge in exactly the same part of the wall they drop down on up in the loft as shown in my pictures, so I am not...

Running additional sattelite cables from my loft to lounge

hmm that's an idea, but they are all plaster walled up and there are no gaps between any pipework. Whoever did the house has done a pretty good job if sealing things up if I am honest.

Running additional sattelite cables from my loft to lounge

It is satellite but don't worry, have a quad LNB so ample capacity. Just not sure how they route those wires in the first place. I am assuming they must do it before the house is complete, as it would be much easier then. Similarly, if I wanted to run one down the back of one of the bedroom...

Running additional sattelite cables from my loft to lounge

Thanks, ok that makes sense. It is a 2 storey property so it would be a bit of a run down. Seems very tight.

Running additional sattelite cables from my loft to lounge

Hi there, Just wondering if this is possible... I have a sattelite cable running from the loft down into my lounge. It must have been installed when the property was built. The house has plasterboard walls and, I can see from the loft that the wires go into some very slim trunking. Was hoping...

    Felt on shed

Hi there, Can anyone tell me if my shed roof needs any attention. I am due to move in soon and it looks a little creased. Not sure if I should be adding it to my snagging list or not.. P.S. Never had a shed, so not sure what the roof should look like!
