    Installing flush socket box

As far as I was aware there is no need to cap over the cable. Yes it is done to protect against the over zealous plasterer but in the case I assume the plasterer will take care. If it was me I would just clip it in place and bond and plaster over it .

Josh1e "also can the landlord demand a cert as the regs do not state a diyer needs to provide one (for this type of work) and b/. in the event labc are not involved & they would usually test under the labc initial fee, does that legally pass to the landlords responsibility? " Sorry to take...

    External lighting with conduit.

AHHHH . My mistake. There is no risk of impact damage. It will be above head height along all of it's run except where it drops down to switches. I am intending this to be one of my assessment jobs for NIC certification so I want it to be perfect in form and function. Any advice would...

    External lighting with conduit.

Thanks Sparky ! I have been looking on Screwfix and cannot see any fittings to terminate the conduit into a compression gland - any advice ? I can't even see how a junction box would terminate to a compression gland. :? AHH after having another look - would it be the female connector...

    External lighting with conduit.

I am designing an outdoor lighting circuit with 3 lights, and involving 6 switches all run in black 20mm conduit. I might even slip a PIR or 2 in their for fun :) The one thing I cannot work out is how to get the conduit to the lights themselves. Would you terminate it to a gland then flex...

Gazzer. What do you need to get certified with NICeic ? All you need is the 17th regs according to the NIC guy I spoke to yesterday. Of course then you have to have 2 jobs inspected and go through the NIC guys questioning which may be more difficult than the 17th exam  . I am a non...

Horstman Electrisave Electronic boost - anyone fitted one ?

TWIMC I recieved an email from Horstman explaining the wiring sequence. The booster operates on 240v so it needs both a live and neutral connecting to operate the internal electronics. It then only switches the Live out. thanks for the advice guys.

Horstman Electrisave Electronic boost - anyone fitted one ?

http://www.horstmann.co.uk/water-heating.php#Electrisaver I know they are designed for immersion heaters but I also believe they can be used to "boost" the central heating instead of turning it on and forgetting to turn it off. :x It is designed to be a double pole switch operated ON by...

    What's the best van ?

What is the best van ? I don't really want a big transit type van. I like the look of the Ford Connect but it is pricey compared to the Fiat Doblo. Ok the Doblo is bloody ugly ! But at least it is cheap  So what van do you have and is it the best you have had ?

Intermittent boiler problem - Help please!!

I am no expert here but wouldn't the safety/overheat thermostat be worth checking ? I assume it is the thermistor type, and as long as you have a multi meter it should be easy enough to check. WOW where did all those posts come from ?
