Update for an old sparks

Hi all,

I have been out of the job for about 20 years and was considering taking it up again.

I have my C&G parts 1, 2, 3 & C 15 edition IEEE, what would I need to do to come back up to speed?

C&G 2391 and C&G 2382 would normally be enough.

I would think you would need the full 17th edition course after being out of it for so long.

2391 & 17th update, I'd say.

Did you last work under the 16th in 1989? But you trained under the 15th?

Do you have your 16th update?

I am in a similar situatin to you but only out for 10 years or so.

I have just finished my full 17th, I only need the refresher but decided to go the whole hog. A good decision imo.

BTW I spoke in detail to one of the tech guys at NIC and he said just do the 17th. I will go back and do the I&T 2391 though, for a refresher and might even do the I&T fundamentals.

Good luck mate, you will be surprised how quickly it comes flooding back.
