Bricks coming away above garage side door

I've uploaded some photos. Is this easily repairable? It looks like I can shove a flat lintel in there if necessary and then cement the bricks. Never done something like that before but since it's just a garage I'd like to give it a go and gain a wee bit of experience. I think I might have...

    Expanding foam cheapest/only/best option?

I want to seal the gaps between the roof and walls of my garage. The previous owner has already used expanding foam in many areas. I was about to attempt to fill in the rest of the gaps but just wondering if there are other methods? It seems that some some of the old expanding foam has...

Can't find the right flexible hose connectors

Should I leave it as it is or remove the PTFE? Would it cause problems? Thanks again.

Can't find the right flexible hose connectors

Okay, thanks for the tip. I did first install without PTFE but there were drips so I used it and now there's no drips. Maybe something else was in play. Thanks again.

Can't find the right flexible hose connectors

I didn't need them thanks. I found some pipe (took a while to get the paint off!) , a couple of olives and two nuts off some other join. Seems to have done the trick. Thanks for all your help.

Can't find the right flexible hose connectors

Thanks very much. It might not cost me anything if I can find a bit of pipe in my garage.

Can't find the right flexible hose connectors

I didn't have time to take photos but hope I make sense! For my bathroom mixer tap, I have a 15mm isolation valve on each pipe coming up out of the floor. The tap connects to them with flexible hoses. I have bought another tap but the hoses that came with it are not long enough to reach the...

Improving water pressue outside for sprinklers

Finally managed to make some changes. Firstly though, I haven't got round to testing the flow & pressure but TBH, when I turn the tap on, it really does come out strongly. Also, there's no problem using one sprinkler with a 10 metre hose so I can't help thinking if I could just improve the...

Improving water pressue outside for sprinklers

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it. How would I actually establish the flow and pressure to know if it will work or not? Is it worth getting this? I'm even toying with the idea of getting this which could fit under the kitchen sink since the garden tap is on the other side but...

Improving water pressue outside for sprinklers

Wasn't sure if this thread should've been posted in the 'Garden' forum but because it's about water pressure, thought this forum was more appropriate. I have bought two garden sprinklers from Screwfix. When one is connected, it works fine but when both are, they don't work properly. This must...

    Is my house sinking?

Well, that's just it. I've been in the house for nearly 5 years now and can't actually recall if there was a time when I should've noticed it before. I'm guessing (hoping) that this has been like this for eons. This is a semi so surely if it's happening to me then my neighbour would've noticed...

    Is my house sinking?

I've noticed the floors and walls are not level on the first floor. Now I know walls are rarely straight but by just how much are you supposed to allow before you start thinking it's not normal? The semi-detached house was (I think) built in the 1950s and I can't see any cracks on the outside...

Install new bathtub up against existing wall tiles?

Unfortunately no, or rather it wouldn't look nice. It's not a straight panel but a curved one specially made for this bath (I think) with lips at the top and bottom to push inot clips. Thanks.

Install new bathtub up against existing wall tiles?

I see what you mean. Thanks very much.

Install new bathtub up against existing wall tiles?

Just want to be sure, are there any pitfalls when installing a bath tub up against existing wall tiles instead of the usual way of installing tiles just above the tub? I need to raise the height of the tub compared with the old one because the previous installer didn't allow room for floor...

Best product to fill in skirting screw holes?

Thanks, does that come with a hardener where you have to mix it up and use it quickly? Can you supply link? Thanks again.

Best product to fill in skirting screw holes?

What's the best type of filler to fill these holes without shrinkage that's easy to prepare and sand? I suppose one of the best is a wood filler that comes with a hardener. The problem with these of course is that they harden very quickly. I don't need one that hardens quickly. I remember on...

Methods to fix skirting to solid wall other than screws & glue

Wise words. That makes sense. Thank you.

Methods to fix skirting to solid wall other than screws & glue

I know there's plenty of references to skirting after searching the word but there's too many to go through to see if the answer has already been given! Apologies for this. Quite simply, other than using screws & raw plugs, is there some machine I can hire like a nail gun that will drive the...
