Diamond core drill bit with SDS drill bouncing off the brick work

Thanks for your replies. I'm not that far off the ground but a more secure platform would be nicer! I can reach the hole from the floor but obviously I wouldn't have my weight behind it. I'm starting to believe it's because the arbor is too long and the fact that I'm on step-ladders. I feel...

Thank you but as stated in my post "I don't have it on any hammer action..."

Diamond core drill bit with SDS drill bouncing off the brick work

I will continue showing my naivety here! I wanted to drill a 127mm hole in the wall for a kitchen extractor. I bought an Erbauer Diamond Core Drill Bit 127mm to use with my Energer 850W Rotary hammer drill (ENB465DRH) along with 250mm arbor & pilot bit. The problem is after drilling the pilot...

Big difference in extraction between 100mm & 125mm?

Thank you all for your replies. After I posted my thread and did a bit more digging, I eventually found a very good guide. A bit technical for me but got the jist that there's a 'BIG' difference with downsizing! As you mentioned, it could well be noisier with much less extraction. Thanks for...

Big difference in extraction between 100mm & 125mm?

Apologies if this thread is better suited to another forum but I thought otherwise. It's not really a question of making the whole but difference in extraction. I have a kitchen extractor that has a 125mm outlet for extraction. Seems fairly standard size along with a 100mm one. The problem is...

Is this efflorescence and do I remove it before or after?

Yes, but it's same condition on other side. Thanks.

Reduce 25.4mm bore on a miter saw?

Really? Damn my ignorance! If only I'd asked that question first:( Toolstation do one for only £8.26. Certainly worth a go for that amount. It's 200mm instead of 210mm but that shouldn't make a difference being slightly smaller. Now for the bloomin' rain to stop. Thanks once again.

Is this efflorescence and do I remove it before or after?

Just realised, I think they're all like this. Certainly not the same state as the ones used last year to install the patio. They've also got some very slight moss (or something green) on them. I guess the first (perhaps only) question to actually ask is, If these were delivered for a customer...

Remove part of a garage base edge to lay paving bricks?

Thanks for the advice. I see what you mean. I've actually just bought a cheap 115mm one with a diamond disc to cut the pavers if needed so I'll use that if I can. Does that mean it's okay to cut the concrete in the first place? Surely as long as the garage bricks above don't jut out more than...

Remove part of a garage base edge to lay paving bricks?

Yes, I did think of cutting into the pavers to just leave the top, but it's a lot of cutting to leave only about 20mm. I'm worried that they'll break during the process. I only have a small angle grinder at the moment and I'm unable to find a diamond blade for my 25.4mm bore miter saw - I...

Reduce 25.4mm bore on a miter saw?

Actually, I forgot to ask, would a non-segmented blade still work/worth trying? There are a few 25.4 diamond discs available such as the one here but they're for ceramics and slate. I've already hit another obstacle and now beginning to regret starting this project but that's for another thread.

Is this efflorescence and do I remove it before or after?

I've just had some paving blocks but they have this on them. I think they've been in the builders yard for some time and I don't know if this is acceptable or normal. Should I complain? Should I remove this stuff before or after I've done the job and how to do you remove it? I'm actually...

Remove part of a garage base edge to lay paving bricks?

I want to lay paving bricks along the wall of my garage. The problem is, the foundation base sticks out but I want the bricks to be flush with wall and level with the lawn. Can I use my SDS drill to remove enough of the base for the bricks to fit in nicely? The depth of the bricks are 60mm...

Reduce 25.4mm bore on a miter saw?

That's the kind of washers I saw, and by the lead time, they were coming from Shenzhen! But, as you pointed out and made me realise, I had got it the wrong way round in my head! My miter saw only cost me £29.99, again probably originally from Shenzhen but with eBuyer's brand on it. Does the jobs...

Reduce 25.4mm bore on a miter saw?

Thanks for your help. Oops, I was looking at it the wrong way round! I guess there might have been some of increasing the arbor from somewhere if it had been the other way round. Never mind, I have opted to go for a cheap 115mm angle grinder instead with the appropriate blade. Thanks again for...

Reduce 25.4mm bore on a miter saw?

I've got a cheap miter saw from eBuyer. I want to use it to cut block paving bricks. Therefore I need a diamond (segmented?) blade. The problem is I can't find one that's a decent price and fits a 25.4mm bore. At Screwfix & Co they're all either 22.2 or 22.23. Is there anyway of having these fit...

What base for a paving block mowing strip?

I want to create a single paving block mowing strip between the lawn and the fence/gravel board. I absolutely hate strimming - probably because I'm useless at it! I had the paving blocks installed for a patio last year and will use the same. Obviously these will not be walked on so I'm sure...

    How serious is this?

Would anybody have a good idea how much it would cost to put a lintel in? £200, £500 or £1000?

    How serious is this?

Thank you all again, this is brilliant. I think it seems fair to say by your comments that by him 'not' putting in a lintel of some sort wasn't illegal but just bad practice or questionable? In the meantime I will dig out the certificates for this that came with the deeds etc. I will also...

    How serious is this?

Sorry, just saw your post after I posted my second one. You may have just answered some of the questions already! I take it wasn't illegal not to put one in? Thanks.
