    Small shop vacuum

Having cut some timber with my circular saw and drilled some pocket holes, the floor of my garage is covered in sawdust. I really need dust extraction but I’m a novice to woodworking and space is at a premium in the garage. What would you recommend that had a small footprint?

Confused by screws - wanting to get kitted out

As a DIYer, I’ve found turbogold trade pack useful: https://www.screwfix.com/p/turbogold-pz-double-self-countersunk-woodscrews-trade-grab-pack-1000-pcs/20938 For things like bolts, nuts, washers, buy them as you find you need them and keep a stash. If you needed them once, you’ll probably need...

    How do I do this?

I reckon the above might be more successful if I use wider rails. Fingers crossed.

    How do I do this?

I think that depends on my skill with a jigsaw. I’m now contemplating wider rails and cutting them into narrower rails with curved ends.

Future proofing home/making smart with technology

A lot of the smart devices are wireless so ethernet cable not needed as much. Depending on wifi strength and signal in the house, I'd consider at least one upstairs ethernet port for an additional router. Wireless boosters are about but can be a bit hit-an-miss. Definitely more power sockets per...

    How do I do this?

This is for a project I plan to do on my week off. I'm building two frames out of 2x1 (to support some shelves) and wish to radius the corners. I reckon for the outer corners I could get away with a jigsaw and palm sander. I do have a trim router now. For the inner corners, I feel like I...

    Where to start wallpapering

Looks good. Painting wise, I found the paint can make the dried glue wet and bubbles appear in the wallpaper. These all went after the paint had dried. I did two coats because I thought there were imperfections but when fully dried, the paint looked awesome.

    Newbie router and table recommendations

I should have clarified that I'm after a router table/stand, and not a table saw. I'll look at the erbauer though.

    Newbie router and table recommendations

To continue my foray into woodworking, I’m considering buying a router and table. I don’t plan on doing kitchen laminate work or anything extravagant. I simply want to make housing joints and rebates in wood so I can create planters and minigreenhouses for my garden. I know 1/2” routers are...

    Where to start wallpapering

@Derekbirmingham I did the same. The previous owners had dark blue walls. It was depressing me. I scraped off layers of wallpaper, smoothed the walls as best as I could and hung lining paper over it. I painted it a brilliant white colour and the room is so much brighter, especially as it's north...

    Where to start wallpapering

1400 is quite thick so overlapping would produce a noticeable bump. Presumably you'll paint or wallpaper over it so caulk is fine. I didn't bother - I just painted and it came out well. But my corner cut was pretty good.

    Where to start wallpapering

Personally I’d make sure the left edge of the paper is perfectly vertical (draw a line with a spirit level or plumb level and pencil if you need to) and make sure the drop is at least 2” longer than you need it to be so it allows for skewed corners. Start on the long wall and then wrap it around...

    Where to start wallpapering

As pointed out, if you’re going to wallpaper over the lining paper, it’s traditional to hang the lining paper horizontally and then wallpaper vertically. If you’re painting the lining paper, then hang vertically and butt joint the seams. I hung and painted lining paper recently and used 1400...

12" (or bigger) paint trays and liners

At that size (and doing the whole house) I'd go with large scuttle buckets rather than roller tray https://www.screwfix.com/p/wooster-wide-boy-bucket-18-23ltr/4780x

    Redecorating bedroom

Well after painting the paper, the room looks brighter. Crucially, almost none of the gaps in the lining paper are visible. Don't know if they just filled with paint, or the paint caused the paper to expand. I say almost because there's one wall where it looks like someone has drawn a pencil...

Awesome. I will order the DTM51 (and probably a case + inlay + some accessories).

    Makita multitool

I'm slowly building up my Makita 18V cordless collection. I'm looking at buying a multitool. On here, it seems the Fein Multimaster is the best. But I've read their propriety starlock system means replacement blades can be expensive. For the average DIYer, is the Makita DTM50 or DTM51...

    Redecorating bedroom

Completely agree. I would allow about an inch or so of the blade to protrude to provide some flex in the blade. I tried different cutting angles. Annoyingly some cuts were perfect, others needed repeated cuts or I resorted to scissors ut there was no obvious rhyme or reason.
