Thanks for the reply. I currently have planning permission so no worries there. The balustrade manufacture I plan on using seem to have the details sorted. Upstand on cold flat roof where to insulate

Hi, i am planning my flat roof extension with roof terrace, the part that is not cover by the terrace will have an upstand for a roof window. I am going for a cold roof as I am very limited on the height of the roof, and also think it is much easier to fix the balustrade without cold bridging if...

    RSJ siting problem

I think he means the beam will be longer than the 2 supporting walls. I guess you would knock through one wall to slide in, then slide back into the other wall. Or as above get the beam supplied in 2 pieces.

Doesn't the garage also need to be 100mm lower than the house to stop gases from entering the house. So install the ufh at a later date if you covert.

Insulation and plasterboard... how bigger gap?

Does building control not want to see the insulation before you board? Not sure if you need a vapour barrier in there too.

Tools for Drilling Through Mild Steel

I drill loads of 6mm holes at work with my 18v cordless makita. Sometimes in 10mm think steel. Takes about a minute with no cutting paste or pilot hole. You have to apply abit of pressure I find. Also the drill needs to be turning the correct way if that isn't obvious.
