    Fitting Shower

Thanks for the reply. Can I ask how the mounted kit that you have linked to are fixed to the pipes? As it doesn't appear to be clear in the description to me.

    Fitting Shower

I am about the fit the shower for my bathroom overhaul. The hot/cold pipes come straight from my combi boiler and through the wall. They are 150mm apart and are solid, the area is tanked and also tiled. Am I right in thinking that the cranked connectors are OK to fit to the pipes using an olive...

So leave the vertical bracing then?

Crack on outer lip of new bath

Thanks for the replies. Funnily enough this is a Trojan bath as well, although I can't complain really as it was my own fault. Think I'm gonna give the bath repair kit a go with some bracing glued behind it with epoxy. Then put some vertical bracing between the bath and floor for extra support!

Crack on outer lip of new bath

Installation of bath has gone to plan, all except a silly mistake of my own by putting a bit too much of my own weight on the edge of the bath when moving things around etc... Heard a loud crack sound, followed by a few swear words. The crack is on the outer rim of the bath, about an inch long...

    Upstairs Internal Doors question

Thanks for the reply. I think I might just take the plunge and fit the 27" door instead then, hopefully it shouldn't look out of place. 3" shouldn't make that much of a difference surely? Please refrain from the usual 'my wife says' jokes lol.

    Upstairs Internal Doors question

I am currently planning the renovation of my bathroom and I am replacing the door frame and door. The old frame has the horrible glass panel above it and it is not true at all so would rather replace altogether than try and correct it. I will eventually be replacing all door frames and doors...

hardiebacker board - skimming and tiling question

Sorry for the late reply, I have been away for a week on holiday. Thanks for the all the replies, although all differ slightly in opinion. So is it safe for me to say that I can use a hardiebacker board all the way up to the door frame, tile one half of it for the shower area, and skim the...

hardiebacker board - skimming and tiling question

Doggit - I understand that the hardiebacker is designed just for tiling, I was just unsure how to go about having a wall that is part tiles and part painted. Chappers - thanks for confirming. I'll have to wait and see how the positioning of the studs are then and make a decision from there, if...

hardiebacker board - skimming and tiling question

Thanks for your reply chappers. Alternatively, could I use hardiebacker board up to where the tiles end, and regular plasterboard for the rest? Removing the need for priming with PVA? I like the batten idea, will be using that tip so thanks!

hardiebacker board - skimming and tiling question

Hi there. I'm wondering how to go about tiling the shower area around my bath. I want to tile around the bath and shower, and then stop tiling after the shower screen and finish with tile edging strip, so I can then paint the remaining wall up to the door frame. I am planning on using hardie...

Bathroom Refit - soil pipe and other plumbing questions

I was planning on just going straight up and slightly past the roof, to approx the same level as my current vent pipe. I will be needing a couple of 45° bends towards the top to get around the slight overhang of the roof edge. Does this seem correct?

Bathroom Refit - soil pipe and other plumbing questions

Thanks for the help. I was looking 3" so that's why I couldn't find any! Think I'll stick with 110mm as its a lot cheaper anyway.

Bathroom Refit - soil pipe and other plumbing questions

Hello again, another question regarding the soil pipe. Im just looking into soil pipe fittings, and cant seem to find anything that reduces the 110mm pipe down to 3". Other than a standard drainpipe? Is this right or am I looking for the wrong thing? Thanks

Bathroom Refit - soil pipe and other plumbing questions

Thanks newboy. Good news that they can be moved then! I understand that the condensate drain needs to be on a slight downhill slope to the waste pipe, would this apply to the PRV discharge as well? Or can this be bent down vertically, across the bath horizontally and back up vertically again...

Bathroom Refit - soil pipe and other plumbing questions

Excellent. Thanks very much for all the help everyone! Now I know I will need to get hold of a big core drill for sending the waste pipe through the wall. Question/problem number 2: I also have 2 pipes coming through the wall near the shower end of my bath - see attached image, it is the...
