Should've said it's like a continual buzzing then a louder sort of whirring every 5 seconds. It's not loud but first its happened. Also just noticed that when the power is turned off the house alarm goes off. Could this be related ? Tempted to disconnect that speaker now I know that's what it is

Like a whirring that happens every 5 seconds. I turned the power off earlier and when it came back it's been like that.

Thanks for the quick reply, unfortunately the wires have been disconnected from the existing fitting but i had taken a picture before this. i know now ill need to try and locate the switched live and keep this separate. ive attached a photo of the old fitting and the new connection Thanks again
