    Single storey extension

Sorry about the pics, I couldn't get them off the computer to my phone to upload so had to photo the screen. We tried an architect for the 2 storey plan but he has been useless with the council. It was to be changed from single to double storey over the existing extension and a full side build...

    Single storey extension

The old extension will be demolished as part of the build but then rebuilt as a sideways T shape I suppose to the original house. A bit like the pic below but the left side would be longer for the bedroom I don't mind having to go through planning, it's more a question of if something like...

    Single storey extension

I'm looking to add a single storey extension to my house but I'm not sure if the size would be allowed. We already have a small extension which would be removed and rebuilt with a pitched roof. We looked at 2 storey but it seems overlooking neighbours could be a problem so we are thinking a...

    Baxi duo tec hot water

i have a baxi duo tec 40 combo and the rads are getting hot when the hot water is running. The gas man changed the insert in the divertor valve and some other insert behind the gas valve/pump because it was leaking too. The control box on top of the valve has been changed too as it had seized...

    Change of colour

I'm looking to paint the living room and kitchen in time for Christmas but not too sure what colours to really go for. It's only going to be for a short time as the house will be getting renovated completely in the next year but just want a change for the short term. Nothing else will really...

    New extension

I'm looking at demolishing a single storey rear extension and rebuilding with a wrap around double storey one. Looking at prices at the moment and most say around 1000/1200 per sq m but it's an odd shape to work out a rough cost. The rear would be 2m x 4m but then the side would be 4m at the...

    Tree removal

The trees are definitely coming out, trimming them down is starting tomorrow night. I'm going to start on taking all the branches off, just leaving the full trunk so it will hopefully lever out the root ball. Had a quick look at a few panel choices this afternoon and a double boarded panel looks...

    Tree removal

im needing to replace the fence behind my trees but the trees need removing first. They are conifers around 8/9ft tall(60ish). Do these types of conifer have deep roots and need a mini digger to remove or are they likely to have a small root ball? I think they may be leylandi. Next part is how...

    New bath

im looking at renovating my bathroom and I'm after a bath 1700x 900 wide, extra deep if possible. All I can find is either a shower bath which would be fine if it had two P shaped parts to it or a double ended bow fronted bath that at widest is 850 but narrowest at 650. Are there baths available...

    Radiator balancing maybe?

Got a slightly confusing radiator problem. New rads have been fitted downstairs but the small bedroom one is causing problems. Each rad can heat up independently while all others are closed off and then by opening each other rad just a tiny bit lets them all heat up apart from the living room...

    Small Drip

The boiler leaking isn't really what I'm after lol. If the stop in the street does work, it would mean stripping the kitchen floor and a few cupboards to even get access to the stop tap to replace it unfortunately. As usual the stop tap has been buried away behind a cupboard when the kitchen was...

    Small Drip

Ive just had a new tap put on my kitchen sink and now there is a small drip from one of the old joints just below where it was connected. I'm looking to put a new flexi pipe in to replace all the old bends in the pipe work but the stop tap isn't the best at stopping. The leak is on the hot side...

    Cool gas oven

Door seal looks ok, no splits or anything. I've given all the metal a scrub down today but still no better, any ideas on what else it could be?

    Cool gas oven

I have a Belling gas cooker and the bottom oven isn't getting hot enough to cook with. The flame is blue and can be turned up and down but it still doesn't get very hot in there. Is it worth having someone out to it or just replace it?

    Urinals

Why not try a Franke water free urinal? I think Screwfix have them in their catalogue or try a Travis Perkins/Plumbcenter.

Baxi combi 80he plus list of odd problems

A drop in pressure points towards a leak somewhere in the system. The rads getting warm when hot water is running could be a stuck diverter valve. Does your boiler have an internal tank that it keeps full of hot water? It could be showing demand when it is heating the tank.
