    You could do what I did, get yourself down to you local garden centre with a tape measure and pen/paper, or even a digital camera. Build your dovecote based on their design!!! Glocko

    Fence in Windy Location

    Have you considered building a traditional fence with featheredge panels. You need a post at 6 foot intervals with two or three 4x2 rails and feather nailed vertically to it, this could give strength against the wind. I built this in my garden which is a wind trap and when we had the high winds...

    Cutting an oildrum in half!!

    i have this idea to make a barbeque using an oildrum cut in half. I am aware there can be dangers with vapours whilst cutting, I plan to use a jigsaw. Is it possible to buy new drums? Also what would be the best way to create a lip on the edge so as to get rid of the sharp edge? Any tips...

    Kick back using hole cutters

    Thanks masona, can you really get those flat bits as big as 10-15 cm? The ones I have only go up to about 5cm (don't quote me on the maths guys!!!) I find that when I use that bit it really rags up the edge as it comes out the other side of the wood.

    Yes well spotted, my integrity is intact, just my mathematical inadequacy has been exposed. It leaves a 10mm gap each side so must be a smaller holecutter!! What is a flat bit you mentioned? is it a different way of doing holes, I have tried using a jigsaw but don't get a good circle. Any way...

    When using a 15cm hole cutter on a piece of 6x2 I am having a problem stopping the cutter from kicking back as a guide it through. It nearly breaks my arm!! are there any tips? The cutter is new so I know it's sharp. Any help appreciated :shock:
