    Tiling labour costs

Howdy all, We're having an extension built next year. I'm trying to work out how much it will cost to tile our kitchen/family room and hall. The total area is just shy of 70m2 and the tiles are limestone in a grand opus pattern. I have been quoted £35 per m2 labour only. Not sure how much...

    DPC and DPM options

I have two steels that will be resting on existing internal walls and the new exterior walls. I could get these in first and then this would allow me to run the new drainage pipes in to the centre of the house under walls to be demolished before casting the slab. Also It means I will be able to...

    Various manhole issues

When to cast floor slab - before or after demolishing walls

Thanks Noseall, I am planning to have UFH so would have the insulation over the slab and then screeded. Is it likely to see problems with differential settlement in the form of cracking between the new slab and where the wall once stood. We are planning to have stone tiles and i am a little...

    Ground source - new extension

Ok, so i thought ground source was gonna be the way to go. But i am doubting that now after reading some posts on here. I am planning to extend our house - part single storey part two storey on the rear elevation. I want to install underfloor heating downstairs and keep rads upstairs. We are...

    What wood for fascia?

Thanks The rot is not wet, it dry.I don't know much about rot, but if it dry would that still be down to roof problem. The house is old -1820s. It has clay tiles with no felt, just slates running the length. Is this a likely cause? Cheers

    What wood for fascia?

Been waiting for a nice sunny to paint the fascia and replace the guttering on the front of the house. I could see some of the paint was peeling so thought I'd crack on - might take me an evening or two... Anyway got the first section of guttering off and the top of the wood fascia board was...

Gnd floor extension low pitch roof detail first floor window

Thanks. The 'flat' section would be around 500mm from the wall so it would not look too out of place. There are four windows i would need to do this on, so as long it is consistant it should look ok.

Planning a ground floor extension. At present there is an extension which has a very low pitch 10 degree roof which is clear plastic. We want to do away with this and put a tiled roof with skylights, i understand that the absolute min for this really is 15 degree. I've looked at tiled lower...
