    Bathroom: waste+joists=problem.

Yes, flush to the floor free standing bath. In terms of using 50mm, does it need to be 50mm all the way from the bath to the soil stack? Not sure I can access the full run to install 50mm the full length. :(

    Bathroom: waste+joists=problem.

Hi all I'm in the process of renovating the main bathroom and hit a snag with the bath waste. Before I go on, the pictures show a grey 110mm pipe running next to a joist. This is not a soil pipe, but the extractor fan for the kitchen below the bathroom. I've attached a diagram showing the...

Bathroom renovation, wall chasing, basins and waste.

Hi all, I’ll be starting my bathroom renovation next weekend, I’ve already removed the existing suite, fixings and the carpet. Yes, carpet. Before we get it replastered I need to make preparations for the wall hung basin. I want all the pipe work to be hidden in the solid wall, hot, cold and...

    Radial circuit, 2 cable sizes

Will replace with 4mm between the new sockets. In the meantime, is the wiring 'safe' with no load going through it, or would it be best to knock the breaker off?

    Radial circuit, 2 cable sizes

Hi all, I have a radial circuit in my garage with a single socket. I've added 3 additional sockets this morning, cabling them with 2.5mm twin and earth. When I came to connect these sockets to the existing socket, I discovered the feed from the consumer unit to the original socket was being...

    Double glazed window won't lock

No not yet. Are there any signs that would indicate whether it needs doing? i.e. would the glass be sat at a different depth in the frame?

    Double glazed window won't lock

Some additional information. The window will close and close and lock on the 'night lock' position but not the position that closes it tight.

    Double glazed window won't lock

Hi all, I've got a problem with a double glazed window, it simply won't lock. Looks like there is a gap on the same edge as the handle, as though the window isn't fully closing into the frame. The handle does fully turn when the window is open. Any ideas what may need adjusting?

Adding a third light to existing 2-way lighting

Hi, At the top of our stairs we have 2 light fittings on the landing ceiling, these are controlled by 2 light switches: one at the top of the stairs, one at the bottom. The 2 way switching turns both lights on or both lights off as you'd expect. No issues here. I need to add a third light...

Ready mixed mortar + SBR. ok?

Hi all, I've got some rendering to do and have a couple of bags of Tarmac multipurpose mortar to use up. The SBR calls for 25kg OPC and 75Kg of sharp sand, however I don't know the ratio used in the multipurpose mortar. Anyone used this combination before? Thanks.

    Cooker Point for 3KW / 13amp cooker???

Haven't really got the option to run a new dedicated circuit to be honest. The 'cooker point' they refer to is a fused socket according to the customer service person I just spoke to. Don't understand why you'd want the socket fused as well as the plug?

    Cooker Point for 3KW / 13amp cooker???

Hi all, I'm trying to purchase a new duel fuel cooker to replace our existing (failed) duel fuel cooker. The existing cooker is connected to a standard 13amp socket behind the cooker which is on the same circuit as the other 13amp sockets in the kitchen. The new cooker has the following...

    Got carried away

Thanks ericmark. The light I fitted was a bathroom specific light and rated accordingly, it came with its own sealed choc box for receiving E L N. So I'm happy that this bit is ok. I replaced the rose with push fit connectors (Helacon), which I think would require a tool to access as they...
