Planning permission for linking garage with main building

Probably no change from £1K nowadays all in, for someone who's pretty cheap.

Slim kitchen worktops with cutlery draw under

What about 10mm acrylic (no chance of any deterioration whatsoever then) and with a bevelled edge to further reduce it being visible? Or just do the right thing and fit an appropriate worktop.

New extension to an existing old extension without paperwork

Get an LDC for the existing development first, though technically it's not required as it was built more than 4 years ago it cannot be enforced against. Then apply for PP for the new extension but bear in mind if the whole development does not meet the criteria laid out in the Local Plan it's...

My Builder is digging out for my extension and dumping tons of earth on my back lawn Neighbours are complaining.

Well the fence won't be a retaining wall so no you can't go piling soil up against it, will you now be overlooking your neighbours with raised areas? That's not very neighbourly. Saving money for who, you or your builder? Did he quote to take it away?

    Dremel for kids?

Scroll saws have pretty limited uses and are fiddly to use. Live a little.

    What on earth is this?

Erm, it doesn't need to rotate, only move back and forth. If you know you know.

    Thread identification

Are you sure it's 25tpi? My money is on it's 24tpi so it's a 5/8" x 24tpi UNEF. You can buy a thread gauge pretty cheap, essential for taking the guesswork out IMO.
