My 1960s leanto extension is looking very tatty on the outside, apart from the paint flaking there's been quite a few alterations over the years so bricks are looking very tatty with blocked up windows, filled vents etc. I'm looking for something that is paint on but thick enough to cover the...

New door frame too wide! HELP!

My nice new door and frame has just arrived (external). Great...except...i've notice the it's slightly too wide. The door was made to custom size but instead of the specified width of 890mm they've made it to 895mm. It doesn't sound much but 2.5mm either side is quite a chunk to sand! (ps...

thanks for the reply. Yeah i think it's the same. The surface is smoother but the profile looks the same. I've tried jiggling the surrounding tiles but still cant quite get it flush. How crucial is it to be flush? Cheers

    more mystery damp?

The front part of my house is a 2 storey victorian brick extension which has subsequently been rendered. I can't see any damage to the rendering yet there is a large damp area about head high on the external wall. I'm really confused as to how this could be getting damp. I'd welcome and...

    tanked walls are damp

A few weeks ago we started work on our 1960s lean to extension. So far walls have been taken back to stone, rendered, tanked and new insulated floor has been laid. 2 of the walls are partly below ground level and old solid sandstone. My builder was confident that tanking would ensure that...
