more mystery damp?

The front part of my house is a 2 storey victorian brick extension which has subsequently been rendered. I can't see any damage to the rendering yet there is a large damp area about head high on the external wall. I'm really confused as to how this could be getting damp. I'd welcome and suggestions and ideas for solving the problem.

no, the only feature is a window to the side but no obvious places for water to get in.
