Mould on the bottom of the inside wall

Hi, I have a bedroom in a L shape on the ground floor. Until last year the only opening of the room where sliding doors. Because the occupants of the house were rarely opening the doors, mould has form on the other end on the wall where the bed was positioned. I changed the sliding doors for...

Air vent brick in the drains

Hi, I am cleaning up my bungalow following a rental period. I think I have a problem with the drain. The kitchen sink and the washing machine are connected to the same drain outside right under the kitchen window. It is a 100 year old house so it is done the old fashion way, the 2 evacuation...

    Drive edging

Hi Domdee, Maybe I am too fussy! The thing is that the stones are not stuck to the ground anymore and sometimes they end up on the drive or among the bushes. The place can look neglected and abandoned. Tenants just don't care. But maybe you are right, I'll see. Thanks. Letty

    Kitchen spashbackfor off center hood

Hi, I have a hood which is perfectly aligned with the cooker but not centered in the wall (wall between 2 windows). There is 1.5 cm on the left of the hood and 8cm on the right . See picture. I want to buy a splashback. What width shall I order? Should it be covering the full width of the...

    Concrete sectional garage

Hi Phil, That is an excellent idea. For the roof, is there a way to be sure if it is asbestos or not, or should I ask a professional? Because i cannot let people fiddle with that if it is. Letty

    Concrete sectional garage

Hi, I am thinking of getting rid of that sectional garage in a couple of years. How shall I proceed? I saw an old thread where someone said he would put the concrete panels in a skip. Can I do that, isn't too heavy to go in a skip? Can someone also tell me if the roof is asbestos just by the...

    Drive edging

Hi, I need suggestions about edging. See photos, I have a bungalow under rental, big tarmac drive which has seen better days. There was a stone wall separating the drive from the kerb. Only the first layer of stones are left now. Not nice looking and not practical as stones are being kicked...

    Old Showerlux shower - Help!

Yes, I think we could do that. We have margin on one side, a bit less on the other side next to toilet. Have been given a estimate of £1500 to take away the existing and replace with new tray and cubicle + a bit of tile at the base of the tray. I find it expensive. My concern is that the wall...

    Old Showerlux shower - Help!

Hi, Polesapart, it is an offset quadrant 1000 x 800. What do you mean by "remove the trim below the tray"? Madrab, I did contact and they said: "The part shown and described belongs to an original Linea/Eden sliding enclosure which has sadly been discontinued here in the UK for over 7 years...

    Old Showerlux shower - Help!

Hi, I bought a house a few years ago, under rental now, with a "Showerlux" shower - offset quadrant enclosure with 2 sliding doors, quite old by the look of it. Don't know the model. Quadrant size is I think 1000x800cm. The wheels allowing the doors to close were damaged and one of the panel...

    Replacing old sliding patio doors

Hi, I bought an old bungalow that I rent. There are 2 groundfloor rooms which have sliding doors. Very old, big size, have moved over time and would need adjusting and also don't allow easy ventilation (tenants don't open when work all day and/or when it rains) which results in a lot...

    Condensation solutions

This is a similar building, 4 rooms originaly. One of the room facing the garden has been extended, something like 20 year ago, to double its size. 1/2 of that extension is an ensuite bathroom with 1 window, the other half has big sliding doors (old fashion ones with no vents and no little flap...

    Condensation solutions

There is effectively a clause in the tenancy contract asking them to ventilate... to avoid that problem. The couple work all day and often go away the week-end so everyting stays shut.
