    volt stick or similar

Ok so assuming you shut the power off and drilled into a wire not knowing and then put the power back on. How would you know if you drilled Into the wiring or not? Not that this has happened but this is a concern of mine.

Ok. Well as a safe guide. What is the recommended safe distance between say a light switch or plug for drilling? I know not to drill above a light switch or plug but what about sideways?

    changing weather strip/rubber seal

Ok I have looked at the gaskets and ordered a sample pack so will try changing these. The issue seems to be that the corners on the hinge side have a gap and do not sit tight to the gasket when closed. I have a feeling that changing the gaskets won't solve the issue but may be part of the...

    changing weather strip/rubber seal

Hello Is it possible to replace the weather stripping on double glazed windows? I'm talking about the rubber seal that you see when you open the window and it is around each pane so when you close the window it is air tight. If so how do I go about getting a replacement and making sure I...

Hello that looks good. My only Concern is that the remaining part of the waste pipe currently runs along the floor. Won't the pipe need to be elevated to run higher than the u bend?

    unblocking washing machine outlet

Hello Thank you for the reply. It looks as though the Stand pipe goes down then into a right angle then goes out towards the drains. What would you suggest? I have got some Mr muscles to try and some soda crystals. But what about solving the problem long term?

    unblocking washing machine outlet

Hello How do you clear the outlet/drain hose on a washing machine? Also what about the sewer pipe it connects too? I am not sure where the block is but it stinks. It looks as though the Landord has stuck the outlet pipe into the sewer/white pipe/stand pipe/trap and it is effectively an open...

drilling and hanging on breeze block

I have just thought there is a brick pillar about half way along on either side of the garage that is about 2-4 bricks wide but not wide enough for the bracket on the speedball. Would it be easier to attach something like some Wood to the brick and then hang the speedball on that?

Why does my hot water run so slow

Thank you newboy for the reply. The kitchen seems to flow a lot faster. This includes the hot tap. The boiler is also in the kitchen. Cold tap fills 1ltr in about 5 seconds. The hot tap is almost double that. (This is both from the kitchen)

Why does my hot water run so slow

Sorry I really don't know much about boilers and I haven't lived here long. It is a 2 bed house. The boiler doesn't seem to store water no. It seems to heat it as we go. So basically the boiler isn't sufficient really for a shower or to run at a fast flow? Is there anything else I can do to help...

Why does my hot water run so slow

Agreed but with these sorts of things it's non essential as "it works" it's just annoying. There seems to be excessive play in the bathroom sink cold tap and as I said hot water runs slow throughout. The water is done via a boiler that runs on gas (not much help I know). When the hoy water is...
