Alarm control panel - bellbox setup

Hi all, I've recently acquired an alarm control panel with some PIR sensors, but I don't have a bellbox. The control panel manual (which I downloaded off the internet) is not very useful. Basically, I need to purchase a (hopefully cheap) bellbox. The control panel has two wires for...

    Render crumbling off walls

Thanks for your replies... That is an outside door to the right, however these patches occur on a seemingly random basis throughout the home. Wasn't sure what it was to be honest lol, but yeah it could be plaster - it's very thick though (fairly deep til you reach the brick wall, is that...

    Render crumbling off walls

Hi all, Wondering if anyone could help me with the following problem: In certain areas on our walls, there is (what seems to be) a concrete internal render on the walls which is crumbling. These patches seem to occur on a random basis (on any outside wall; front, back, and side of the...

Ebay Alarm System - Too good to be true?

Hi all, I've been looking to purchase a new alarm system. Ebay seems to have some really good looking systems with loads of features at a cheap price, probably shipped straight out of China. One example: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wireless-Autodial-Home-Burglar-Alarm-System-08B-/250587476616...

    Cat5e for Alarm?

Good question, i'm interested in using Cat5 for an alarm system too. I'm guessing it would work 100% fine (we use Cat5 for allsorts of stuff at work, including sending analogue audio and video down the cable), any experts got a definite response on this?

    Wireless Alarm System - Batteries?

Hi all, I'm currently looking into purchasing an alarm system (nothing too fancy, just a couple of PIRs) to protect the home. Been looking around (mostly on ebay) for a system to setup myself, and noticed that the majority of alarm systems are wireless. Wireless would be a great option...

    Crumbling internal block work

Not too sure to be honest, either 1940s or 1950s.

    Crumbling internal block work

It's definitely the blockwork itself, can dig about 4 centimetres into it by just brushing with a finger. My stepdad is a builder, and said he's not seen anything like it, but said it might be due to low quality blocks. Think i'm going to have to get a surveyor in sometime! :( Will keep...

If you have spyware problems - use Spybot

Another good free antivirus program: http://free.avg.com Although always remember: The best cure for a badly infected computer is a full Windows reinstall. Well either that or head over to http://www.ubuntu.com :)

    I.E./google. very slow

Try installing "Google Chrome" to see if it makes any difference (really fast and light download)... http://www.google.com/chrome If that's faster, then we definitely know it's a browser issue :)

    Crumbling internal block work

Yes, in these areas the plaster was "bubbling" on the wall. When touching the plaster, it flakes off the wall, to reveal the crumbling areas in the blocks. I've included one below, please let me know if you need any higher quality (was taken off a camera phone :)) Nah it's in Hull :)...

Cavity Insulation - They left holes open in wall

It was done for free on some Government-scheme so it's not too bad, will just point them up myself sometime instead. Still, wonder how many houses are left out there with massive holes left all over their walls. Funnily enough, very similar :)

    Crumbling internal block work

Hi all, We have a cavity wall, where the outside is clay bricks and the inside is concrete blocks. However, in some places (seemingly randomly throughout all 3 outside walls), the concrete blocks have "dents" in them. When placing a finger in a "dent", the block begins to crumble and the...

Cavity Insulation - They left holes open in wall

Hi all, We recently had a company around to provide cavity wall and loft insulation. After they had left, we noticed that they had left holes in the outside brickwork, without pointing them up. You can see all the "foam" inside the cavity. No one mentioned anything to us about leaving...
